Default 277/175 torque b16 crx

ok if i get a vortech s/c with after cooler i will have 277hp with 175ft/lbs of torque, this is with every thing stock except the internals. ok now if i port and polish teh head will that make me break the 200ft/lbs of torque? or would i have to pnp the head and bore the block liek .20 or .30 to achieve my 200ft/lbs of torque? any in put is helpfull, also i was gunan go turbo but the reliablity of the s/c better and the power through all rpm ranges not just high rpm range!

Power from the Vortec isn't delivered evenly across the rev range
it's more linear,
I'd go all out and build the bottom end up.

If you want power that you can almost infinityly upgrade then go turbo. Your going to pay about the same anyways. But if you have your mind set on SC then you have your mind set! But weigh the options!

I would personally say go turbo, but like buddy above my post said: 'if you have your mind set on SC then you have your mind set!'

here's a little something to help you decide
http://www.superchargersonline...ID=19

try reading that. there are millions of articles out there weighing the pro's and con's of turbos and superchargers. just stem past the honda-tech.com search engine for this one.

as for acheving those hp/tq ratings, you'd probably have better luck with responses in the Forced Induction discussion area of this forum.

first off, where are you getting these numbers? 277/175, i have a buddy with a vsc on his 00 si and he only put 255 down and he has a bunch of upgrades,

your also aware that the vsc wont fit in a crx or civic with a b16a with the aftercooler,

you can do it without the aftercooler, but you sure as hell wont end up with 277.

the VSC is basically the worst of both the turbo and sc worlds. You get the parasitic losses of a supercharger with the peaky spooling hp dyno charts. The turbo is a much more efficient way to make power then a supercharger

first of all what car is this going into,
if its going into a 1st gen i doubt you could get either setups in the engine bay paired with a bseries so this discussion is probalby pointless anyway.

turbos are better than superchargers hands down, besides all the vsc is a turbo, but its on a stick and its used in a diffrent way.

since everywhere you read says that supercharges are better than turbos why dont you post these articles so we can read them.

oh and better yet, next time nopi or nira rolls through your town go look at all the 8-10 second race cars, and tell me how many had turbos and how many had sc's

then get a turbo,

its will be better for you in the longrun, and you have alot more options, turbo kit and vsc is about the same price anyways so why not get the one thats going to net more power in the long run.
