Yeah this summer im getting a 99-00 civic Si and i was wondering if there are any bad things into getting one. I have never heard people hate on 99-00 Si's so im just wondering what I'm in for. Thanks a lot guys.

 

Torque, and I think they're stolen a lot.

Yeah i know about the stealing. Fuel cut-off switch and take the ECU out when i leave it i think would be fine. Im not too positive on what i need to do to keep my car safe. And plus my dad owns a shop so i could keep it in there. I plan on using it mostly as my "weekend" car.

yeah big problem, i dont have one.....lol....they get stolen here where i live but parts are easy to get ahold of.

 

going turbo good choice because you will need it. I hope you have a garage expecially when the turbo goes in because your car wil be wanted.

 

Parts are easy to come by because they are stolen.

 

Love mine so much that I plan on getting a VSM SiR next year or this fall.

 

They are really heavy...Wheels get stolen and whole car gets stolen...insurance might cost a lil more...youll wish you had a eg with a swap instead.

 

Go for it, just keep your head up for theives.

 

They have a high theft rate, and its a little on the heavy side compared to other civics

Damn. As soo as I read the topic I was going to say they get stolen alot. For beating me to it.

 

Nothing really bad. Look hot epecially when they come in blue. I just dont like the trannys that much. The gears are real short and just like most hondas, they got that 3rd gear synchro that goes bad.

I have an Si . Not really any downsides, weight, but that's easy to overcome (more power). No torque, thanks to the B16. Interior looks just like any other 99-00. Yes it is stolen a lot so make sure you have proper security.

They get stolen ALOT!!! Another problem I have with them is the B16 is USDM so it is restricted more than a JDM motor. I would suggest buying an EX civic if you need the roof and drop a JDM B series, or JDM K series or H series in the car. You will be much happier and save some money on insurance (that's right, the Si will have a higher insurance premium than a EX) Otherwise they are great cars, the 2003-2004 Si should be a coupe but Honda fucked up on that end. May I suggest an RSX-S? That will make you much happier than any Si civic... IMO

 

Other than the weight difference between these hatches and stuff the b16 is a pretty bitchin motor. I have a black Si, and yes they are stolen a lot but thats because they are wanted. If people did not like them they would not be stolen, but most of the stolen Si's get the engine swapped into a hatch. My only issue as with most Honda's is its a high revving 1.6L with no torque down low, but its awesome on the twisites. 8k rmp is fun as hell.

Get what you think looks the best, because any hatch is damn ugly and the new Si's are a joke. RSX-S? Get a Type R, the RSX is too soft in the suspension and for the same price you could easily get a nice R.

Nothing wrong with the Si, go for it you will love it but before you know it you're going to want to upgrade! Don't buy into those nasty hatches just for light weight drag cars, you want speed AND style.

Lol you sound like your jealous, dont be mad if your car didnt come with AC. You know you would keep it if you had it! lol

 

Since when is a hatch ugly? I love my hatch and I would not trade it for a coupe of any year. Also, many people do not like ac. I don't like it because when it is nice outside, my windows are always down. What's the point of ac then? As for the 99-00 SI, there is nothin really bad about them. Any car can get stolen given the right situation. If you do get one, and especially if you turbo it, garage it in the shop you mentioned. Flatbeds don't need an ecu or a working fuel system in a car to tow it.

 

My cars been broken into. Pretty good resale value. The blue looks good but i like my black. My lining on the power window bunched up and comes off track pretty regular. And like some one was saying third gear synchro likes to go out. Oh and forget about good gas milage on highway. 4k rpm's at 70mph drinks that $2.00 a gallon premium gas.
But w/ these problems ill never sell my Si oh and people give you mad money for the "Si rims"

Yeah i do plan on getting black. And i beleive someone mentioned something about an RSX type S. THat is actually another option that i am considering. And then someone said something about AC is for homos? What kind of stupid petty **** is that? If a car comes with AC and works then im using that ****.And if i buy a car for 14g's you know damn well it better have AC. Shut up you retard. Yeah the SI rims can sell for a pretty good price too and im not worried about the weight and that they get ripped off a lot. I want it for soething to chill in, i have a CRX that i plan on making pretty badass as the summer comes too. Got a nice little thing from jackson racing for it. Lol. Actaully the "Si's" Have always come in HatchBack EXCEPT the 99-00' i think the 01'+ Civic coupes are ugly so im glad they are Hatchbacks but whatever They are Still heavy as phuc in the end and have no torque to back it up but i still love my Coupe
