tie rod ball joint replacement... HOW?
alright, i called a couple shops around the metro atlanta area and i couldnt find anybody to replace a ball joint for under 100 bucks. needless to say, if i can save a little money by doing it myself, i'd really rather do that. anyway...
my tie rod on the passenger side of my 88 crx HF is in dire need of replacement. the boot has been broken for some time, and i'm really starting to worry about it. the ball joint is so busted, you can move the wheel from left to right without even touching the steering wheel. everytime i let off the gas, i have to correct my steering becase that wheel turns inward. its still connected, but i dont know for how long.
How do i replace a ball joint? do i just hammer out the old one with a bigass hammer and hammer a new one back in, pack it with grease, and put a new boot on it?

You have to replace the whole tie rod end. Just get a new unit from Honda, don't f around with used parts for something like that. I think I got mine for $40 or $50, somewhere around there. It's something you can replace yourself very easily, just make note of how many turns it took to get the old one off. Put the new one on using that same number of turns and your toe should be ok. Still, might wanna get an alignment anyway.
Good luck.
Good luck.
correct...get the part from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com i think its $42 a piece...
