Default im a moron, and need help

i recentls had a little problem with my car, a bypass radiator hose blew and sprayed pretty hot coolant all over everything under the hood, now my engine sounds like hell at low rpms and seems to loose power at low rpms, so i took the distributor apart and got all the coolant out of there and replaced the spark plugs, but i dont know what else could be wrong, any ideas on what i could do

one more thing the check engine light is on and wont go off, do i have to reset something maybe?

any help would be great!

drain all the collant out... take out the main bolt of the plug to drain it

change your oil let it drain totally dry and put about a quart in and then drain it again.

spark plugs

distributor.. dry it out.. let it sit a good few hours.. make sure ur timing is correct.

reset the ecu also.

if that dont work.. do a leak down test compression test

maybe tear the head off

could be a exhaust leak somwhere also

get the ECU code. If you're getting the code it means there is a problem. Once you fix the problem then your CEL should go away. Also note that you will need to reset the ecu after you do this or it will store it in the memory and come up next time you pull a code. Atleast thats how it worked on my 95.

You might want to inspect the coil, rotor, and electrode tips in the cap for corrosion just to be on the safe side.

if you tkae off the rotor , remmeber the position it was in. you have to install the new one exactly the same as the old one was. there should be a rubber gasket on the distributor cap also, check to make sure you have one. take out all the plugs and crank the motor to make sure no standing water is in any cylinder. taking the plugs out and cranking will shoot the water out of the chamber. if its not driving fine dont force it. you could end up breaking something.
