How easy is to remove the engine?
I have a '96 honda accord ex and am due for my timing belt change in about 6k miles. I've heard horror stories of ppl doing the work themselves and how they wouldn't ever attempt it again. I've also heard that changing the timing belt is a piece of cake once the engine is removed. I also need to change my clutch since its chattering pretty bad when its cold(on startup). Taking out the engine to knock out these 2 problems seems like the way to go. I also really need to do the work myself as I'm pretty deep in debt and have the time. I have the helm's for my accord and a good tool set. I would appreciate any tips/advice you can lend as to the difficulty of this fix. Thanx
u don't realy need to take the engine out to change the timing belt. yes it is easier to change the timing belt when the engine is out but its a lot of work to take the engine out. just read the manual realy careful and open that **** up and change the belt. if u got any questions just come here and ask.
if u do all of that u might aswell do a swap.whatever u do read a guide b4 u pull it out and see 1000 wires and dont know were things go back to. do lable them with masking tape and it really should be that hard if ur mechanically inclined. a few hours tops.
It is pretty simple to change it on that motor. I changed mine on my 95 Accord Lx. It was fairly simple took about a day and a half. I also changed my G/F's 96 Accord V-6. It was a bitch. It took me almost 3 day's.
But for the four banger I would do another one for just the hell of it.
If you need any help let me know.
