Default lsvtec...

I have a spare b18a1 block layin in my garage and due to the fact that all my turbo dreams went down the drain I think I might try lsvtec..so here is my question...I know all the procedures that need to be done to the block but I was wondering how it would run with ITR pistons and rods....And what crank should I use? I have no idea how many miles are on this block so I am going to replace everything..thanks

USE THE LS CRANK AND RODS WITH THE ITR PISTONS (BIGGER STROKE AND MORE COMPRESSION)

Should I buy a new ls crank? Or do I just use the one I already have, if so what needs to be done to it? Oh and this is gonna be going into a daily driven car

Unless the crank has a lot of wear on it, it'll be fine. You could always take it to get micropolished to smooth it out.

If you're going to use stock rods on stock pistons (aftermarket rods need to be machined to fit stock slugs on), grab some ARP rod bolts to beef up the bottom end a little to handle the vtec revs.

Im not sure how much wear is on the crank, Ill just take the block apart and see what it looks like..If it is worn out what crank should I get..Im just going to use ITR pistons and rods...

It's really hard to eye up things like that. You "should" take the block to a machine shop and have them inspect everything first to be certain. It makes no sense to waste your time and $ in the motor only for it to be short-lived. Build it right if you want it to last.

if you use the Type R rods, you'll need the Type R crank, due to the shorter stroke...... 1797cc vs 1834cc. I'd stick with the LS crank and rods, do some ARP rod bolts for sure, a good set of cam gears, and definitely the ITR pistons, if you already have them. I used P30s with a 1 layer head gasket, and made awesome power. Remember you won't make the most of the added compression without bigger cams, like CTRs or ITRs. stockers will work, but you'll gain a lot doing cams. If you want more, like most people do, you'll need aftermarket rods, valve springs, retainers, and a higher rev limit. Good luck, and don't forget to dyno tune!!!

make sure to get the block decked, so you won't have those annoying oil leaks associated with LSVTECS>>>

Aren't most of the oil leaks from faulty t-lines at the back of the block for the external oil line? Decking the block just makes it taller.....
