Well since people don't kno how to search now a days I'm gonna to tell you anyways since I'm bored out of my mind. Okay the H22a1 here in the U.S was released in 1993 with a 190hp, 160lb/ft of torque with VTEC. The 4th gen H22a1 ended in 1996 and the H22a4 was released in 1997 with 10 more horsepower bumping it up to 200hp and I believe the torque was the same dunno. The non-vtec H23a1 has only 160hp and about 150lb/ft of torque. Comparing the two the H23a1 has low end torque since its a 2.3L which spools faster but doesn't have no top end what so ever and the H22a1 has top-end with its VTEC although some people say that you notice the lack of low end torque but me personally I don't the H22a1 is a well balanced motor. Hope this helps.

Thanks alot. Sorry if i wasted your time or anything. Im kinda new to preludes. I just got my 2001 lude a week ago. My buddy said he's got the H22A motor. The dealer whom I purchased my car from just said its a 2.2L l4... i dont really know much about honda motors .. So is the H22a motor like a base motor? or what im really trying to get to is. The H22a motor and the L4.. whats the difference between the two. Pros and Cons of both.. and Which is overall better. I'd really appreciate your reply. Thanks alot

mmmm I don't think he meant "L4" I think he meant "I4" - as in INLINE 4 Cylinder...

i think the papers are wrong... it's I for inline. i.e. - all your cylinders are in a line opposed to a V, flat, or W shape; no such thing as an L

the h22a is the best motor you can get for this car

whoever the dealer who sold you this car is a total fuckup at selling. The prelude you have "IS" A 200HP 156TQ 2.2 I4 DOHC VTEC engine in a car like this one:

** New Question ** i plan to get some headers and a intake. I heard jackson racing is the best for the headers part.. any ideas on cold air?</TD></TR></TABLE>

whoever told you that was on acid j/k

jackson racing is known for making superchargers, not headers
as for a header for your lude, that depends on how much money
you want to spend.
some of the top names are smsp, prospeed, an-r, hytech, etc.

cold air = ebay with a good filter (K&N).

As for headers, SMSP, Mugen and the others he said.

N/A or turbo, before you start asking all of this.

actually it is "L". An inline engine runs from front to back like the supra motor. The l doesnt refer to the shape of the motor but rather the position of it.

So how in the hell will a v6 or v8 sit in the engine bay? lol... Isn't that the reason for the 90 or 60 degree angle?

I don't understand what your question is. to me it seem's like the guy has an h22a4. the L is probably for how many litre's he has which is 2.2

no, L4 is correct. I forget exactly what the L stands for, but its something like Latteral or something. Damn I wish I could remember.

Anyhow, the H22A is a 2.2L-L4
