Default full tank of gas = sagging rear?

just as the topic states, can dropping a full tank of gas have enough weight to drop the rear of the car?

the reason i ask is because i just filled up and this morning, i noticed that i couldn't even fit my finger inside the gap (litreally no finger gap). when i set my Ground Controls, i set them so that there would be at least half a finger gap. but with a full tank of gas, it seems that that gap has been shut.

so as of right now, the rear of my car is sitting a little bit lower than the front.

can someone confirm this if it is true or not? thanks

btw, the car is a 2000 Si. i believe a full tank consists of 11.9 gallons, but i've driven it for about 30 miles since i filled up.

Did you set the GCs then drive around the settle the springs or are you assuming that once you adjust the height that's where it is supposed to be?

The springs and shocks settle once you adjust the height of the vehicle and go driving around compressing and uncompressing them.

a gallon of gas weighs between 6-8 lbs depending on the temp. so it could be upwards of 80 lbs

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by lohatch &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">a gallon of gas weighs between 6-8 lbs depending on the temp. so it could be upwards of 80 lbs </TD></TR></TABLE>

I believe it's 8.2lbs per gallon of gas.
When I had my stock single cam in with neuspeed race springs, the back of my car would actually sit lower once I filled up. I fixed that with the swap and turbo
now the front of my car sits about 1/4'' lower then the rear.

i think that that was one of my mistakes when i installed the GC's... assuming that that's where the height will stay. i forgot that they'll settle over time.

so i'm assuming that a full tank of gas has no (or very very little) effect on dropping the car in height?

btw, this is a bit off topic, and i know you'll say "yes it will change", but changing the height on the gc's; if i wanted to regain that 1/4 - 1/2 finger that i lost during the settling of the springs by raising the rear, would it effect my current alignment settings so bad that i'd have to go in for another alignment <U>ASAP</U>, or would i be able to live with it?

i think that you would be able to live with it, and as far as it lowering the rear, i have to have a minimum of a 200lbs person set on the tail gate to get any noticeable lowering.
