Bottleneck adapter install. Please look if you have one.
I just typed a bunch off questions and the damm computer froze and lost them all. fuggin machines.
Here it is in a very short version,
What is the cost to have the SMS bottleneck adapter installed properly using tig with SS rods on the stock B-pipe?
also how would I be able to tell the difference if it was mig and not SS rods?
I just came from the only race car shop here and the guy was cool and helpful but wants between 100 and 125 to install. To me that seems very high- but then I'm broke and cheap
Anythoughts?
thanks

Sorry, but that seems like the price of a "quality" job given your specific wants and requirements.
I'm pretty sure a "muffler shop" could install it, but ....

Don't know anyone in your area who can weld stainless I take it? That could very well be your only option then..
I believe the type of welder differs between tig and mig, so if you watched them you could tell.. but I'm a welding n00b so I'm not going to be much help on that part..

Consider it a temporary improvement, till you step up to another exhaust.

From what I hear and have seen this is the only guy who does quality work. and the only person I know of who welds SS...
In the land of millions stacked up on top of each other, Ya would think there would be atleast two people who weld SS...
Lack of options in a city like this? can't be.
Any NY's know of any other shops???

But I would rather not kill the stock system with shody work. Incase I need it to sell or to use for inspections...

That's why I have a Mac.
When we installed an adapter on my brother's car, we actually didn't have it welded at all. We lined up the adapter alongside the B-pipe to check for the proper length, and marked where to cut off the original piece so as to leave overlap with the adapter. After we removed the B-pipe and cut off the OEM flange, we had a muffler shop slightly expand the B-pipe tubing so that the 2.25" end of the adapter could very snugly slide in. We then took it home, and using some Permatex Copper on the slip joint, bolted it to the cat and hung the hangers. Once we had everything lined up properly and adjusted for length, we used an exhaust clamp to clamp the slip joint. The entire process only ran ~$15 for the clamp and the expanding, and it works beautifully. I've never seen Dave's adapter in person, but this would obviously only work if there are a couple of inches of straight 2.25" on the adapter.

You can weld SS with MIG or TIG. You just need SS wire and preferably full Argon. MIG is just a lot easier because a lot more shops will have a MIG than a TIG. Either way the weld will be fine.

Geez I never knew, I just thought you dated your R
In all seriousness, Rob I'd bet the benefits are speculatory and minimal unless someone with a similar setup can post some graphs.
