Need all motor help!!! ugh i'm digusted
ok, i got a complete head built, port n polish, crower drag cams, valve springs, retainers the works, i have been throwing a code ever since i got the car out of the shop, it is a 92 for purge flow, a couple of buddies looked at for me and said i need a purge valve and they will find it, i dunno if that is the problem. i also have a skunk2 manifold. so yeah sometimes the car is running like a champ, other times it is completely dead unless it hits the cam once above 6k things seem normal but below it, the car has noooo low end. i can be at WOT at about 3.5k and it takes forever to accelerate or pick up revs, i need help guys, please!!!!!
What have you done for engine managemt... ie: ecu upgrades? ECU chip mods can put fuel and timing where you need it based on what mods you've added. Also, what year is your car? GSR, right?
By default, the skunk will give you less power at lower rpm's because without the primary/secondary combination in the stock GSR manifold, you'll lose some air velocity until VTEC kicks in. That's what the Skunk is designed for... However, with good porting and cams you can make up for it at lower rpm's. Also, cam timing is VITAL to dial in where you want your power band to be. That will require dyno tuning to do properly.
Sorry can't help you with code 92... never heard of "purge flow".

motor is a '96 therefore odb2, stock ecu with an apex-i vtec controller hooked up to it, vtec is set to kick in at 5800 and the crower cams crossover at 6k, sounds mean just wish this car was running like a champ, stock timing cam gears nor anything else on the car is dialed in. everything is at stock settings, oh yeah i'm looking to build my bottom end too if someone can name off any good shops in my area, SF Bay Area, it would be greatly appreciated. thanx guys get back to me on all of this.
my friends gsr with the crower drag cams made minimum 10-12 hp all the way across the dyno chart after tunning with the cam gears. you need about 6200-6300 on the vtec crossover. You should tune that ecu weather its with the chip or the controller you will fix that low end lag!! After tunning there was 24ftlbs of torque increase just with the cam gear settings!! (both of the numbers are compared to 0,0 settings with the crower cams)
kew kew, that makes sense, what about the purge flow code, i thought that might be killing low end also, it's code 92 it says insufficient purge flow??? imma change my vtec crossover to 6200 now then shanks.

Your ecu is looking for a change in map during purge flow- your apexi may interfere with this. Doesn't the apexi change map readings to your ecu or try to trick the ecu with false inputs?
ahhhhh right now i am lacking a purge valve i need to get that and i need to get the car tuned too. this is horrible, i delayed the Vtec crossover to 6200, it seems to have helped decrease the lag in low-end but i can still feel the lack of power down there b/c of the insufficient purge flow, plus i'm ecu limited and i redline at 8200rpm so i need an odb1 ecu and harness to chip to mugen specs so i can actually utilize my built head.
If you want your ecu reprogrammed call Lawrence at DynoSpot in Mountain View and get a Hondata...including the ecu you would be spending around $650. Tell him that Austin referred you...I just ordered a Hondata for a friend with a B20GSR yesterday.

well if purge flow is not that detramental on the power then what could be causing the car to feel like it is running tips and sometimes feel as though it is a civic dx? i can't explain it?? but yeah i am probably going to go to dynospot as soon as my next pay check comes in gotta wait 2 weeks ugh lol spent the last one. do they also do repair work i still would like that code gone without having to reset my ecu and have it pop back up.
