What tires for JDM 16" wheels?
What tires are you guys running with your 16" wheels?
I was thinking about the goodyear f1 gs-d3, or the RE010, or pilot sports, or maybe the yokohama AO22.
This would be for mostly street driving.
Tried seaching but didn't get much of an answer.

I don't have JDM 16's,but I have 16 inch Rota Slips and I run 215/45/16 Falken Azenis. They are awesome tires, but thet don't do that well in the rain compared to other tires.

Kumho 712 Supras 215-40-16's with stock suspension.
Pretty good grip for it's value but do wander some on bad road surface.

Are you sure you got the ones made for the JDM R and not the ones made especially for use as front tires on the NSX? As that is the 215/45/16's usually available in the US. These are made as right and left tires to work with the suspension settings on the NSX, not a good tire to use on an ITR.
I'm running on 7x16" wheels myself, and use Goodyear F1 GS-D3, had 205/45's last year and might try 205/50's this year as the 205/45's seemed to be a little bit on the small side, looked pretty much like the 215/40 Kumho's on the pic above, and that was on stock suspension.

the GS-D3's are awesome.
I'd take them over 010's, but the Azenis are probably much cheaper and grip better in the dry, though not by much. I'd say the GS-D3's are probably the best overall tire in my opinion.

Yes, depends on conditions where you live, if it's mostly dry get the Azenis but if grip in the wet is important the GS-D3's are awesome.

One word of caution about Azenis... they are heavy. Coupled with JDM 16", that's going to be one heavy wheel/tire setup.
Don't forget Pirelli P-zero... they are great tires, even though the technology is over a decade old. (assymetrico... not Rosso)

Yes, very true.
You can tell the difference as follows. The ones made for the NSX - that are NOT recommended for the ITR - are both directional and asymmetric. If the sidewall of the tire says "SIDE FACING OUTWARD" (or "SIDE FACING INWARD"), AND has an arrow for "DIRECTION OF ROTATION", that's an NSX tire.
The same thing is true of the Yokohama A022. It's made specifically for the NSX and is directional and asymmetric. Not recommended for the ITR.

I take it that Bridgestone does make a RE-010 that would work on the R right? My Bridgestone dealer here said that there are 3 different RE-010's.

Yes the JDM ITR's came with RE010's specifically designed for the 16" wheel on the ITR...just like the 15" version in the U.S. How you can distinguish between the two when ordering, I have no clue, but I do know they offer both.

Just got home after finally getting rid of the snowtires
We actually had snow 3 days ago (hopefully for the last time this season
)
205/50/16 F-1 GS-D3 is mounted on 16x7" wheels, +45 offset. Looks good, although it could take a 3/4" drop. Will try to get some pics taken tomorrow if someone is interested.

Yes, and it's available in Japan. I'm not sure it's available in North America.

Specs for the RE010 from Bridgestone's website show two models in the 215/45-16 size, item numbers 019-879 and 019-887 (for the NSX right front and NSX left front). If there is a third item number in this same size, that MIGHT be the one sold in Japan; you would have to check the sidewall to be sure.

The RE-01's that came on my JDM rims are supposedly NSX spec tires also. And yes, at highway speeds they are definitely twitchy.
BTW, I will call Wade at my local Firestone and ask him about the RE-010's. All I know is that he said that all 3 were available.?.?

that would be great if you could get a pic.
thanks for the info on the RE010's, so that i don't make the mistake of buying NSX tires.
anyone have more info on the Goodyear F1. I was thinking of getting 215/40/16. would that be too small. I don't mind skinny tires or a ruff ride. ( I used to have 18's)

RE010 works well for me...

A bit pricy, but can't go wrong with tires designed for the R...
