Default ECU question...

CAn you run a EP motor on a Type-S ECU? just curious if you can. i would like some higher revs and i don't yet have the dough for Hondata

well typeS ecu is made for k20a2's high compression...i doubt u can run that unless u match the internals... ep3 is 9.8:1 and typeS is 11:1

You can send the Type-S ecu to Hondata and let them reflash it for a K20A3. Then, it'll be suitable to run on your car. And like stated, the fuel maps/timing/VTEC X-over is different in the K20A2 than the K20A3.

type-s has vtec on intake and exhaust cams, wheras base DC5 and EP3 have it only on the intake cam.

I believe.

So the ecus are going to be somewhat different in what sensors they look for. Hondata may or may not be able to disable those sensors, dunno.
