track car suspension suggestions for a 1994 civic cx
Ill finally be getting my 1994 civic cx track car tomorrow. i have a prelude as a daily driver. ill start gutting the car this week, becuase this car is my TRACK ONLY CAR. I will be towing it to the track so it doesnt have to be street legal.
I plan on doing a integra ls engine or vtec 1.6 swap later on down the line, but what suspension should i start looking into??? and what spring rates? Again this is a track only car.
As for wheels will go with either the kosie 15x7 or maybe the rota 15x6.5 depends on if i get a deal on the kosei when its time to purchase wheels.

The CX is classed in ITC for SCCA with the stock engine. Based on some of the specs that I have seen, it should be at least as good as the 88-91 cars which seem to be fairly competitive in the class, depending on the track.
You will have a blast with the car in ITC trim picking on "faster" cars in the corners.

sounds good! the engine is pretty beat up so ill se what i can do with it before i swap it out sometime in the next year or two. it has 150000 miles on it and the timing belt has never been changed so im planning on doing that asap.
so far i gutted the carpet and door panels and air bag, then i will be taking out all the other interior panels and dash etc... and out with the ac system.
for right now i just want to use the car for HPDE for fun... ive been doing that with my prelude last year but i wanted a track dedicated car so i got this car from my brother in law.

I appreciate your excitement (I've been there), but slow down. Odds are pretty good that you'll at least consider competition in this car if you're not already considering it. If you're going to pull stuff like the dash, do yourself a favor and hang on to that stuff until you can confirm that they will be legal to remove under competition rules. It would be a shame for you to prepare this car beyond the limits of any sanctioning body and be stuck with an HPDE car if you decide to compete. The good news is, this is a competitive ITC car so it's worth consideration. If it were me, I would invest in the best cage/seat/harness combo I could afford, fix anything broken or unsafe, and dump the rest into seat time.

i didnt take the sound deadening stuff because i heard it could get loud.. i think ill leave that stuff in.
i totally agree with the seat time, thats why last year i went about 6-7 times and 5 of those times were with stock tires.
i want to make sure i build this car decent from the start so yeah i will be looking into getting cage/seat etc.. my friend who builds turbo does cage install etc.. too. and ill stick with the stock cx engine and just track a lot!
my friend in an integra ls is faster than a lot of my other friends including me that drive audi s4, lexus is, audi turbos etc.. becuase he has 2 years of track experience so i know track time makes a huge difference! thanks for the inputs

if it isnt a race car i would leave street legal. With the money you will save in tow expenses, you can put towards more track time.
As for the suspension, your wallet is the limit. The GC/Koni set-up is a tough combo to beat for the money. Had 350#F/400#R rates with a 23mm rear sway and it handle real nice.
Good Luck.

DChung1 hey i got a set of koni yellows with Neuspeed Race springs with ITR LCAs, ill ship it all for $450....sorry if im thread jacking. At least with the neuspeed springs you can get used to the spring rate and playing with the damper adjustments.
i just bought a SUV actually my wifes so that we can tow the car to the track.
so this car doesnt have to be street legal.. i have a prelude as a daily driver. so spring rate doesnt matter either.. what the best spring rate if i plan on dropping in a 1.6 vtec or 1.8 integ LS engine those are the two engines that i am condsidering.
later on when i get the new engine i will either have open race exhaust or straight exhaust with no cat etc.. one cont pipe or whatever the rules allow.. i havent looked into that stuff yet. These are just future plans. this is my hobby car. i dont care if i cant convert it back to stock i have no plans on returing it back to stock it if comes to that i will just drop it off at a junk yard.

Thanks for the love, Cory! But inaccurate.........loser.
I actually have 700lb/1000lb Eibach's, Koni Yellows, and a Neuspeed front tower bar. That's it. No swar bars & no special bushings. I'm shocked at how friggin perfect that car handles. Real nice beefy and stiff cage though.
It should be noted that this was with 13x6" wheels, 225 R3S03 Hoosiers, and the D15 engine. Change any of those and I don't know what it'll do.
