Default AEM V2 Intake Really Work?

Hi, I was just pondering

Now i know that on the V2, the piping near the Filter is larger that the piping near the manifold...but i got to wondering...

Supposidly...it takes the air in the larger piping and forces it through the smaller diameter piping and increasing the speed of the air, creating a velocity charge...BUT wouldn't this only work if the air was being BLOWN into the intake piping? and not do much if it's sucking it?

i had one of those 3" dia. e-bay short rams intakes on my car and had that for a while...

But reacently i put a universal filter on my stock "pipe" and my throtal responce was increased dramaticly...it didn't lag as much when i stepped on the pedal

Then i got to thinking...well, if my theory was wrong on the AEM intakes...i was gonna try making one of my own

well, thanks for your time

IT does not have to be blown. The velocity changes regardless. The size of the piping allows more air to flow and then the smaller pipe at the top forces all the air in there.
