which 1 should i look for in a year?
Hey im only 14 but in my lata 15's or mid i plan on buying a car. Im looking at a crx si or a crx hf. I have heard i should get the si and i should get the hf, also i have heard in the long run i want the 89 hf because it has 4 injectors and is lighter and later on if i wanted to do a swap i would want to do it with the hf but the stock engine puts out the least power out of all the crx models. But i have also heard the 91 si only has 2 injectors and is heavier and in the long run wouldent be as good.
will only have about 1500-2000 $'s to spend
thx

Talk about planning ahead!!
I guess it doesnt hurt to day-dream.
If I could do it over again I would buy an 89 Hf instead of my 89Si...depends on what you want the car to do. If you want a daily driver I would get a Si if you want to go fast in the long run get a Hf.....Dx's are the middle ground and dont really offer and advantage over the other...they were the cheapest CRX's and the Hf & Si were the specialty CRX's.......anywho good luck and hopefully the CRX wont be raped and there will still be good examples when you are ready to purchase.

I could have swore that the HF was the cheapest CRX.
Anyway, the DX is a good all around little car. Nice, comes with more stuff than any HF I've ever seen, and you can wire them up for the bigger engines. They also come in pretty colors..
And they're lighter than an Si! woo hoo.

Well, the lighter CRX of them all if the 88 HF. As they came from 88 to 91, they gained every years a few lbs here and there. In all years Si's are the heaviest, and HF the lightest, with the DX on the middle ground.
Both the Si and the HF are MPFI, and the DX is DPFI, so if you get a DX and want to swap engines, first you must get the MPFI swap done.
Each one has it's advantages and disadvantages...like johnjw said, if you want a nice daily driver, with more stock features, and a good stock engine, get a Si. If you want to build a car with racing exclusively in mind, and don't mind the interior features, get a HF.
Like Vash said also, the DX is in a middle ground between the two.
But more important, buy the one that is in the best shape possible, with the least amount of rust. That is to me the most important thing when buying a car.

Search for "DPFI to MPFI swap" in both recent and archived threads, or something similar...there should be all the info you need.

LOL...All the bodies are the same..its thetrim level thats different.
Think of it this way ( it applies for both CRX and Civics alike)
HF/STD: think entry level, very few options( with Honda that is
a whole other story entirely
)..basic commuter transportation designed
for MAX miles per gallon. A good place to start if speed is your
thing and you dont mind putting in a little work.
DX: Think mid level...more "confort level" ie A/C,rear speakers.better
trim ( now this is mostly true for this line, but not gospel) The engine is a designed
for the daily driver, but not set up for performance. If you start here you would
need to do a few wiring changes to the Fuel injection system if you wanted
more performance. In your search...you may come across this model
alot
Si/EX ( 4 door): Think "flagship" in the American Market. These cars
came with a lot of bells and whistles ( pwr sunroofs/rear wipers, pwr windows
and door locks/cruise ( ex 4 door) and provided the most creature conforts
of them all. Look into this model if you want a car thats spirited out of
the box and you want to enjoy now and upgrade later.
There is just a small sampling of what's out there. As you research you will
find that the same car had different options and features around the world.
Just find a good blank canvas to start with and have fun.
enjoy
