clutch question
If someone is using a 212mm 90+ d series 7.5lb Fidanza flywheel on an '88 tranny with a ACT XTSS clutch and pressure plate, will it fit in my '89 tranny? (flywheel, clutch, and press. plate) I know the '88 tranny is different, thats why i ask. (this is for a d16a6 by the way, sorry)
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.
hey Barry, I don't think so. When I still had my D16a (89 spec) I had to buy ACT's upgrade kit (90 spec and up) 6 puck clutch, HD PP and Flywheel because of the diameter difference.
Hmmm. Well I know the 88 tranny has a different spline count. I've been told many different things on this topic. Kinda want to straighten it out once and for all
damn Barry you got a new avatar already? is that your new girl? I gotta get a new pic up to compete with your hottie!!!!!
as far as I know the tranny was the only major difference mechanically?

DAMN *****> Brandi, she is hotness!!
yeah from what we both gathered it seems like it should but I'd still call ACT to see what they have to say.

Haha, thanks!
Yeah, I'll try to find ACT's tech support line and give them a call.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Better yet, I'll just chime in. The '89 comes with the same 20 tooth spline as the later D series (90+). Since you have the 212mm upgrade setup for the '88 (21 spline) then all you have to do is use the '90+ disc. The rest of the parts will work fine. The only difference between 88 and 89 is the spline. If you have the XTSS kit, you must be making serious power to need it. Make sure the pedal assembly and cable is in good shape.
