Exhaust Cut out - Post facts Please!
There are too many E CUT OUT Threads that basically lead to nowhere. I need to know who's running one and how it really affects your tune. Yes i know it affects it somewhat, but by how much?! This is a really good route for people to go if they cant afford a 3 inch system OR LIKE ME, cant afford to have a fix it ticket, i want to be able to finish off my exhaust system and never have to worry about it!
I plan on running a E Cut out with a stock exhaust system on my 4 door.. any input PLEASE

as for tuning, my car was tuned with the cutout open. when it's close you'll just run a little rich.. so it shouldn't matter too much. my car pulled hard when it was closed.. when it's open, the bottom end power sucks because of no back pressure but when boost hits.. it pulls even harder than when it was closed...

Bump: Yeah I want to know the facts as well. I am in the same boat, I want to keep my super quiet World Sport and run a e-cutout. Hell, I was even asking B18 Flip if he could build me one.....no response yet

Dax, I've read in some of Accrd Freak's post about that flex pipe and he said it was from either JC Whitney or Summitt, I forget which one though.

I was planning to use one but heard they tend to leak....anybody confirm or deny that? Also would like to know how much difference their really is between open and closed, as far as A/F ratio.

Dax: I beleive the flex pipe is connected to the exhaust system and the larger pipe is for open downpipe.
jfoster: The e-cutout is tuned with it wide-open with the a/f ratio and all parameters accordingly. When the car is running with the e-cutout closed, some on this board says it runs rich Full-Race Geoff said the difference between it being opened and closed is vell over 100hp!

no leaks at all with mine..
works like a charm..
as for the wastegate dump tube plus flex pipe .. I got it from http://www.jcwhitney.com they're all 1 1/2 inches
first a mini dump tube was welded on then the flex pipe slides right over the dump tube.. then a short mini pipe was welded on the downpipe so the flex pipe could be routed back to the downpipe.. the flex pipe slides right over the pipe with some effort.

Damn! 100hp! But what I was wanting to know is just how far off it throws your A/F ratio? I would have it tuned open but spend 95% of the time running it closed, it worries me that the difference in the tuning might affect the long term performance/reliability of my car some how.

If you tune your Cutout when its open, then when you drive it closed, you be just running rich that's all right ?

Yeah, but how rich? And how would that affect the car over time/miles?

accord freak - looks like you put high temp RTV on your ecutout, the orange stuff. That seal the leak ? I just bought the quicktime performance one and it leaks. All of them do its in there machine work. If i had a camera i could take a pic to illistrate it.

Same thing I was wondering. Does it change it by a few tenths or by a point or two?
Also, how much boost do you gain from running the open cutout?

Well, I really don't know how far the a/f curve was thrown off. But to sidestep the problem of running rich all the time is to drove it wide open mostly and then only close it when you:
a) drive by the cops
b) want to stay low key

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=640685 = my experience.
daily driving IS way too loud! plus when you're just driving normally the car feels slower than stock in the low end.
It doesn't seem like i had any problems daily driving it close..
i wish I dynoed the a/f ratio and hp with it open and closed but it seems like it runs fine either way....
also I boost the same amount with the cutout open and closed. The only thing is that the boost hits harder and sooner when it's open.
also the RTV silicone was already on the McCord cutout when i bought it from the groupbuy here.

Honestly I dont think mne is really that loud. I have mine out the side of my bumper ( yea i am hard core, lol ). I am sure the sound differs if its under the car and the noise is jumping off the road.

Bottom end wouldnt suffer a turbo doesnt need back pressure. It creates its own.
