He's my hero taught me how to quick shift.
mistersleepy

15.4 ? jesus my slowGSR is faster than that.
The S2k is a hard car to launch.
You need to launch it very aggressively (7k) to break the tires loose.
Im sure he still has the 14.2 timeslip, if you want it posted.

My best so far is 14.20 @ 98.90. I have yet to get a good launch(can never get traction). I will go at least 13.99 tonight at Gainseville Raceway...I hope to anyway

depends on the condition and temperature of the tires. i had a BITCH of a time spinning the wheels when the s02s were new and warmed up, even launching at 8k rpms. now they're worn from track/autox abus and it's cold outside so i spin the tires at will anywhere above ~5.5k rpms.

I would think with the S2K you wouldn't WANT a lot of traction on launch, because the car would bog too much. Same with the NSX, only not quite so bad. Of course, I've never actually been to the drag strip, just messing around with a gtech.

i had run a 14.3XX at 100.01 at Beaversprings, PA with my S2000 but that included a horribled 2.3XXX 60' time..... I never did get what I would call a perfect launch.

In the heat at Maple Grove I spun my way to a 15.0 @ 96mph... they kept saying how sticky the track was, so...... i dumped it at about 7k and spun sideways through 2nd gear.

i did have some other runs at beaversprings...the worst was a 14.6XXX with a misshift.

wow, dumping the clutch at 7k or even 8k? that must do wonders for your times and powertrain. not worth all the hassles of **** breaking for getting a good time at a drag strip.

14.8-15.4 is RIDICULOUSLY BAD for an S2000....my best time in my 5th Gen Lude is a 15.2 w/ just bolt-ons..and better drivers can hit 14.8s and 14.9s STOCK...these S2000 drivers you've been seeing at the track must be the worst drivers in the world .

Wow, you must have received one of those rare "tourque monster" S2000. It's hard as hell to break loose, especially since the clutch is so weak. The only thing smoking after launching at 5500 RPM (right below the powerband) will be the clutch. At least Honda has a sort of method to their madness. If the clutch was an stronger it would snap that weak excuse for a differential.
