someone on this board said they'll let you race a long as you have something on your head at Carlsbad, even a bucket! I don't have a race helmet but i do have a football helmet from playing high school football. do u guys think they'll let me race with it on?

funny question, i have a fb helmet too. you might get away with it; i heard they don't have tech inspection at carlsbad.

no, but you can wear a jock strap on your head and still pass tech.

But seriously, a helmet might cost a few bucks...but my guess is if you crashed, the cost of your medical or life might even be more. The rules are just there to help ya.

But to answer the question, tech there is very easy and there is a good chance you might get away with it.

 

is your car fast enough to require a helmet? My track doesn't require one until you break 13.99

but yeah, a crash from anything over 80mph+ could be dangerous, so might as well have a helmet a all times.

 

so where's the cheapest place that i could get a helmet that the Carlsbad techs will let me run wit?

 

you should check out motorcycle shops or use a bucket as you said before.

seriously people i've hit a guardrail at 90mph and thankfully i had a helmet on or my face would be all cut up. be safe and wear a helmet when you race a quick car.

 

i just want a plain silver nice bike helmet thats scantioned approved . any ideas?

If your going to do that.. might as well tape your head with some bubble wrap. You are mistaken carlsbad runs 7 sec race cars there. so yes there is a tech inspection..

 

you can run it for sure... that looks alot better than the one i was using...i used a bike helmet with the front visser...im not jocking

yeah, when i went to carslbad i thought nobody would realize i had on my old school break dancing helmet on,dam was i wrong.
