I have talked to a few people and everyone has different suggestions for cams. I have a 98 GSR and some say go with CTR cams, and others say if u are going to spend the money on cams, it would be worth it, to spend more, on a better more powerful cam, such as WEB or CROWER. I have heard alot of great things out of WEB and CROWER, has anyone had any experience with either.

The Toda spec b package looks mighty sweet to me
I think you can get the whole cam/valve spring, etc. package from godspeed motors? Should be good up to around 9000 rpm I think.

i would highly recommend OE cams or cams that are reputable such as Toda, Spoon
stay away from web or crower. also get hi compression pistons and hi flow header to see the most benefit from them. and if u get skunk2 mani thats even better

For an easy drop in 14hp go with Skunk or Toda A's. Anything bigger than that, you need to upgrade your valvetrain, need more compression, ecu tuning bla blab bla, vafc...Big cams require big compression in order to get them to work to there potential. Running a spec C cam on ITR compression is worthless. You need at least 12:1 compression.
o yea I tried Crower cams a few years back when Kurt Gordon dipped into the 10's with his daily driver. They made less power than my ITR cams.. Not too many people run Crower cams. I've seen gains of around 14hp but that is with the 403 grind which is an all out race cam

the reason why these cams aren't too good is this.
they are reground cams, not newly ground from blanks.
this poses a few problems, you can't be as precise with your cuts on regrinds which in normal cars this isn't a big problem, but with vtec it is a potentially engine destroying problem.
you see when vtec engages there is a pin that connects 3 rocker arms together, if there isn't a point in which all 3 rocker arms aren't exactly lined up the pin will never connect the three, and you have the pin sticking out trying to connect until vtec disingages. so if the low areas on the cams aren't exactly the same diameter you won't line up, and that is a bad thing.
so in conclusion spend your money on a quality product, such as factory CTR/ITR or Toda, or Spoon. all very reputable companies with good track records.

thanks samagon, with your very thorough reply, it was very helpful, anyone else have any experiences with Crower, or other brands, on NA engines
i like crower, they are new blanks not reground. i have the crower drag cams and they sound MEAN after 6k. there have been substantial gains with crower cams and the right cam gear tuning. you'll see.
I heard Crower can custom grind their cams to customer's specs. Did anybody else hear of such a claim? If this is true, could they grid their cams to have the same specs as say Toda, Jun, etc.?
sorry, I said that they were in fact regrinds, when I don't know for sure, thanks for pointing it out guys.
I guess the point is, go with the good quality cams that are made from blanks, don't go for the crap that is regrinds

I've talked to Group-A (Skunk2) and they told me realistically dropping in their cams should result at over 10hp to the wheels w/out any type of cam gears.
