do i need to have a cam gear on a mini me set up???? and if so .. is it hard to install??? and how many degrees shouyld i advance or retard?????

What head/block combination are you using?

 

d16a block/ d16z6 head

 

You don't really need one, but if you want you could put one on. They aren't too hard to install, as long as you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Just have to remember to keep everything lined up when you are re-installing the timing belt. As for adjustment, I would advance it a degree or two, but if you can get it on a dyno, that would be better.
