well, first of all it's vtec, not v-tech....second of all, a goal of 12's is somewhat difficult on the stock block without a rebuild using aftermarket parts...sure, it's doable, but maybe only once or twice before the motor blows...a realistic goal would be low 14's which is still pretty quick...anyways, what exactly do you want to know about the car/motor?

With enough time and money, anything is possible but if you were looking to hit 12's, an Accord wouldn't be my car of choice.

I think v-tech...we are going to change all the internals to forged....so we can spray...dont want turbo..and i think he has decent money to put in it...i dont know much about imports...so if changed the internals for forged ...how much can the motor take (tq hp)...by info i meant how much hp/tq does his motor allready have and is his tranny any good in pontiental...and what are the first mods done to this car....do ya now any one whos is fixing one of these motors so i can talk to him...I want to see what i can get out of this motor before i go and tell him to buy another car.

give us some specs on the car...it's obviously an ex since you say it has the "v-tech" (yes it's really vtec again) motor..but is it an auto, manual? etc...the motor has 145 hp and 147 ft/lbs of yourque...it's a single over head cam motor (sohc) and comes with very low compression pistons from the factory (8.8:1)...

what is your reasoning behind wanting to spray instead of going turbocharged?

this is the optimum block to turbocharge from the factory, as it yields a nice gain in both tourque and horsepower (mainly due to its large stroke)...this should also be a reliable setup as well and give you a low 14 second 1/4 mile time with the right tires...

as previously mentioned, you could see great big numbers from any motor in any car with the right amount of money...12's is a possibility, don't get me wrong...but the setup would not be very streetable and would be utterly useless on anything but a straight line...also, the cost of maintenance for such a powerful motor (clutch, tires, axles etc) would be extremely expensive after a short amount of time...

i was asking around someone told me it was not a v-tech becuase it was and auto tranny...but i remember my friend saying it was a v-tech...lilke i said i dont have any knowledge with honda motors...so is this true...or should i go slap the guy for getting me confused....jk...and yes its an auto tranny...nick h are u telling me with forged internals ,good spray, good suspension and slicks it still wouldnt do high 12's...I have nothing against turbo...i just prefer to spray...every one has there own thing....the reason for the build up is for the once in a while drag race...and he would like to be in the 12's not for racing on the street....would a motor swap make things easier...dont want to swap motor...prefer then just to trade the car for something else....what are some of ya opinions

the 96 accord ex is a stock car....really all stock...we need some ideas before we messed with it..but the goal is 12's....doesnt matter if its 12.99....along as it hits a 12

Can you please stop writing "v-tech"? That is a phone. It is "VTEC". And it doesn't matter if it's auto or manual, the EX's came in both. Just pop the hood and look at the valve cover.

the main problem here is that the car weighs a little over 3000 lbs with the auto tranny. (correct me if i'm wrong, i thought my manual was 2950). at 13psi (turbo) on that motor i know someone who put down 269whp and i think 295 ft-lbs...but still at 3000 lbs that's not going to be 12s.

so even if we put forged internals, bigger cam, and gave in a good shot of nitrous..of course better suspension and made the car handle it the best we will see is low 14's or high13's at the best.
