Default battery relocation issues

the other day i put my battery in the trunk using the previous owner's amp cables. so the cable is 6ga. (roughly 1/4" dia. of copper) and when i go to start the car it cranks slower. the ground should be good because i used an oem power lead to the spare tire bolt down, where i sanded off ALL the paint to make sure there is a good connection

should i use thicker wire?

any other probable causes?

could it just be my timing is off? (see other thread)

definitly get some 2 gauge wire... you lose a good bit of power goin that far in 6 gauge wire. use 2 guage for the ground as well

or bigger as ^ he said

crap, figured i'd have to... so much for a free mod

but oh well, its so nice to have a little breathing room in the engine bay and slightly better weight distribution

What about in the sedan?? Where's the best spot (to get best weight distribution) and what size wires? I'm guessing 0/1 (even 4 would be small??) Let me know, the battery the previous owner replaced in the car is bigger than stock and it's got both top AND side terminals.....
