Default Do I take the plunge and do it? JDM front.

Right now my current situation is:

Some joker backed into my car while it was parked and did enough damage to the front bumper to merit getting a new one (very **** about my car)..

Anyways...

Right now as it stands I need a brand new front bumper OEM.. From Honda = $250.00 - Bodyshop quoted me $500 to paint the bumper and blend the hood/fenders..

That so far is a $750 dollar investment towards my car - Plus the fact I been thinkign about doing an HID retrofit and already bought E55 projectors ($200) I still needs ballasts and bulbs which are another $200.00 plus the labor for the retrofit which is going to be $100.00

We're now talking about.. $1250

JDM front runs for about what, $1700 shipped? maybe 1800..

I can sell my projectors for $200.00, sell my 98+ headlights and fenders/hood for around the same and I'm basically looking at the same $$$ after selling those items towards a investment of a JDM front... MINUS the install/paint - which runs what, 1500?

If you were in my shoes, what would you do... Get the front and wait an extra month to paint the JDM front or.. just fix my car USDM and have some nice HID's..

I would definately get the jdm front end if I were you. Plus, i'd buy the headlights off you if you were gonna sell them.

Wow, That is a difficult decisions. I must say that the JDM would be very nice, but...the 99 front is already so clean looking and especially with some Hid's that would be sweet, could always throw on a trype R lip if you wanted to change it up a bit and it would be beautiful. I would double check all those prices, i know you said you were **** about that car, but i think you could pick up a much cheaper front bumper off of someone else rather than going to honda, especially if the body shop will make it perfect anway, good luck

98+ front end or JDM.........hmmmmmmm. If you are not doing the work yourself, installing that JDM frontend and painting it are going to cost you a pretty penney, someone I know spent almost $4500 getting a shop to do all his work on his JDM frontend here in the NY,CT area.......maybe he got ripped but I'd recommend you pick up a 98+ bumpercover cheap from someone on HT or some other classifieds, and then just buy the hids. With all the cash you save.......put it into a turbo setup

I wouldn't bother doing it. They were cool 2 years ago or so before this huge JDM fad but now it's nothing special to see, plus it'll only increase the chance of your teg getting stolen. Just my .02

its more like 2000 shipped for a non hid front end, shipping frieght to your door is about 250.

mine was ~2000 (its been awhile) installation is expensive as well, id do it yourself.

but on that note, dont get one. keep it usdm, get a new front bumper (if you dont have one, i can sell you mine for cheap. its just lying around now) and then an itr lip...i think usdm fronts have sort of "untapped potential"

New bulbs and ballasts will be a lot more than $200. You'd be spending closer to $500. Also, why $100 for retrofit labor? Do it yourself!

Are you getting insurance $$ or is this out of pocket?

If your getting insurance $$$ to fix it, alot of poeple upgrade if they can since you can get the Jdm front for cheaper than what new 98+ replacement parts would cost from the factory.

If you like it/want it/ and have the $$ use this as your oppurtunity to upgrade.

The 98+ front is still nice and classic, so in the end it comes down to $$ and preference.

Good luck

Is this car your daily driver? Like I already said above, having a JDM front will attract thieves like a fat kid is attracted to cake. If you do get the front end then do some crazy security stuff and\or buy a beater.

id honestly say keep the usdm front. I like my jdm front and all but it just makes your more paranoid about your car and if your car does get stolen... you'll be kicking yourself because you spent so much money and your baby isnt where you left it. I think the usdm front end looks more agressive too as opposed to the jdm "accord" conversion

If your plans were to eventually get a JDM front , i would take the plunge and get the jdm front, you worried about the shipping being a problem then you shuold search around on ebay, because i have seen 2 this week sell that are from canada ad that knocks about 400$+ for the shipping across the ocean from japan/hong kong . Then you could always not get the HID and save that money to paint the bumper, after everything is painted/installed, you can always find some HID headlights on ebay/classifieds later to install your self, if you want to install anything your self there are plenty of tutorials on installing/uninstalling on team-integra.net and searching HT too. Thats wat i would do in your shoes because i am almost in your shoes, except i dont have $$ for the jdm front, just got a 98-01 front and trying desperately to find a oem type r lip, its so hard

I admit it looks nice, and if you are only after show then go for it... but I would spend money on performance parts instead
