Spray Can directions
Always start by washing the area that you are painting with soap and water. Then wipe the area down with wax and grease remover. You should then lightly scuff the area that you are painting with a gray scotch brite pad, this will give the paint something to stick to. If using primer use a red scotch brite pad before applying primer. After applying primer wait 1 hour (or until fully dried), and then sand with 600 grit sandpaper.
First test the spray can on something besides your car. Do this to get used to how the can sprays. Then spray the area that you are repairing with 2 to 3 coats of color (or until full coverage is achieved). Wait 5 minutes between coats. If you are using clearcoat wait 30 minutes before starting to apply the clearcoat. Apply 2 to 3 coats waiting 5 minutes between coats.

Alrighties, I painted my VSM sideskirts not too long ago.
PREP is the biggest part of it. For the skirts I would suggest 12 oz and you may or may not be able to get the lip done with it. I would be safe and get 5oz for the lip.
When you prepare the skirts, sand it down as smooth as you can after you wash them. Any texture remaining will show when you're done and it looks like orange peel (but its not).
I would suggest 600 then 800 grit paper. Get an electric sander if you can, will save a lot of time.
Prime with 3 coats of sandable primer. I used Duplicolor Gray Sandable Primer. You can sand it if you think its not smooth enough, otherwise it should be fine.
Lay down 3-4 layers of paint after the primer is dry, then clearcoat.

So your saying one 12 oz can of base paint was sufficent for both your side skirts? I was going to order 3 cans of 16 oz bottles of base paint. Is that WAY too much?

its comes out just close to stock. I used the paintscatch site for my deck lid for my trunk and it looks stock. Very nice. I did like 6 coats though. WHered u get ur lip from and how much?
Yea, I still had some left over after. 12 Oz is plenty enough. 16 would be enough to do all 3 parts most likely. If you're not sure, get the 16 oz and a 5 oz.
