The first date for Southeast Honda Challenge at Road Atlanta is June 19-20. This is the one track that has truly been missed by all ECHC events since the series' conception. Arguably, it is the best track on the East Coast. Anyone pissed off about having to go to Beaverun instead of Summit Point is encouraged to attend this race instead (or in addition to), as you CAN substitute up to 2 races with SEHC or MWHC for championship points. THINK ABOUT IT! I am not trying to take entrants away from ECHC and MWHC, but the 1.5 mile Bumpy Beaver just does not compare to Road Atlanta by any stretch of the imagination.

I would also like to encourage any guys running Improved Touring to come and play with us. You licensed SCCA racers can actually come and race with NASA with your comp license for one weekend (I do believe) without having to get a NASA comp license. It would be great to see how the Honda Challenge regulars (and newbies) fair against the IT folks. We can call it a shootout, if you want.

Seriously, please think about it everyone. I see no reason why this race at Road Atlanta could not provide a record number of competitors for a Honda Challenge event. Please commit soon, though, as we have been told that "they are filling up."

 

I am not a HC racer (yet) but have several days at Road Atlanta and it is well, my favorite track so far. It flows so well and it takes some *****/committment in certain turns. You gotta love it. I hope to be there that weekend to do the HPDE. I sold my twin turbo supra 6sp on friday and today bought a "track car", a 1988 Civic CRX Si with a B18c, toda cams, and a butt load of other mods. Actually I drove it as an instructor showing a student at an ITRCA event about three weeks ago and well had too damn much fun with it. So I bought it. Found out how much fun it is to shed 1600lbs. on a road course.In goes a six point cage and other safety goodies. I hope there is a good turn out for the RA HC races.

Doh! That is no good. RA vs Lowe's .. hard to choose. SEHC will be back at RA in Aug though.

 

I am so sorry Adam and any other IT guys who might have interest in this event. I definitely had nothing to do with the scheduling, and did not even realize it had any conflicts. I was just glad that it wasn't conflicting with ECHC events. DOH!
But come on, you can run at Lowes any ole time with SCCA, right? Just kidding, I like Lowes as well, but it still ain't no HC race at Road Atlanta--hehe. Seriously, please help spread the word among the IT crowd. I really want to race against some of you guys before next year. Anyway good luck to you guys running at Lowes and maybe you can catch the other HC race weekend at RA.

 

shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, explicative, shoot dude! This bleeping sucks!!! I truly wanted to do this RA weekend with you guys. I hope you get a good turnout but I would pretty much assume that most of the SARRC guys will be at LMS (mainly for points but also for those that run the Carolina Cup, for money). I may be wrong but I think that's where the majority of IT Honda guys will be. Man, if you guys happen to reschedule a week prior or after, let me know, I WILL be there but argh, argh, argh! Slap the snot out of Pantas please!

Best of luck with the weekend, I am sure you'll still get a good turnout. But shoot, don't do this again please - I think you can get several of us to turn up on a non-regional weekend (hell, I think half of SEDiv lives in Altanta ).

 

Ill sign up as soon as I get the 323 back on the road or a replacement for it. I really want to be there for the race, hopefully I will find the problem soon.

I signed up the day registration opened (I think). Wouldn't miss it for the world.

 

I have lots o' "ifs" on my plate at the moment.

IF the car gets here from MI before the event
IF I don't have to do lots 'o stuff to have the car pass tech
IF I still have money after getting the car to pass tech
etc.

Road Atlanta was the first place I saw an IT race, and the first time I realized that folks raced CRXs. It would be pretty cool to eventually race down there.

Pending if I'm able to get my SCCA Comp license back again, I'll be at Lowes. Otherwise, I'll be at Road Atlanta in either H1 or H2.

While yea it would be great for Warren to come too..why on earth does your attendence hinge on it?! (Just tell him you're going for the "out of region" weekend points just to beat him- that should persuade him )
Seriously- just sign up- its A HONDA CHALLENGE RACE AT ROAD ATLANTA it WILL be worth the trip! (Have you ever driven Road Atlanta? If not- you MUST!!)

I can tell you that if we get 25-30 cars in the Honda Challenge races, we can probably start however we want. Anyone who has ever seen or done a standing start usually enjoys them. The more cars we have, the more influence we have.
