Default 2001 Honda Civic EX Sunroof Noise

A friend of mine has a 2001 Civic and has a sunroof installed by Honda at the factory when he purchased the vehicle. He has an intermittant noise fron the right side of the sunrrof when driving over bumps when the vehicle is cold. It may be the Headliner which appears to have warpened over the years or clips that hold the headliner in place? Would like any opinions on people who has had a similar problem. Any input appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Take it back to the dealer to have service done under warranty?

My firend did purchase the extended warranty and has an appointment with the regional manager to see if he will approve the full replacement of the headliner. I wasn't sure if that will even fix the problem, but wondered if it was a common problem with the Civic owners? I also recommended him to go to a interior specialist who might also be able to fix the issue?

It happened to mine, its the trim ring around the sunroof glass, they replaced that and it seemed to stop.

Do you have a copy of the invoice to see exactly what they did? Thank you for the response. Have a good one.

Not on me at the moment. Its not that hard. Look straight up at the sunroof, there's a black trim piece on each side thats screwed to the moving glass plate. It warps, it rattles, they replace it.

Thanks for the response, if you can come across the actual invoice it would help. The dealer is playing stupid and not acknowledging the issue. This helped alot.

Parts 16 and 18 in the schematic. I'm not driving 2 hrs home from school to get the service invoice. Your dealer sounds like mine... I gotta find the problem, spell it out, it still doesn't get fixed, call Honda of America, take it back, still not fixed, call Honda again, finally gets fixed. Bullshit for a 2 minute fix and a $15 part.
