Default my shift linkage fell of while driving :(

man my shift linkage pin fell out tonight while i was driving. got stuck in the middle of the road. lucky my friend came out to help. has this ever happen to anyone?

funny thing is that the pin stayed on the linkage. we put it a lil more than halfway back in. imma finish hammering it back in tomorrow. but damn sucks that this happens. hope it doesnt happen again.

yes... it sucked.

i was making a U-Turn, and there was traffic coming up behind me so i had to get back to speed quickly, so i hit it in 1st and slammed into 2nd then all of a sudden i hear a POP!! and scraping and the shifter won't move.. so i pulled over and waited for the tow truck to come...

Yeah i had it happen to me as well, accept it was the other piece of the shift linkage with the 10 millimeter bolt. I ripped it out along with a chunk of the tyranny. But in a way it was kinda positive instead of just replacing the casing i upgraded to a Itr tyranny.

its never too low for a flatbed. tow truck drivers these days are careless and don't know ways to get up cars that are lowered. i made a tow truck driver once let me put it up on the bed cause he was scrapin the **** out of my bumper. it's good to know how to operate one of those

yeah it always used to happen to me. i was used to it. whenever i would be in 2nd just cruising and i needed to go to 1st it wouldnt really let me so i slammed that bitch in and the lingae popped off due to a wire that was holding it in! now i have the right pin and never have a problem with it again!

Its never too low. May be too low to do it safly, but its never too low to tow.
Especially if your parked illegaly. The tow truck driver can do whatever he
wants to get your car out of where it dosnt belong. He could pick it up by the
radiator support and pull it on to the deals if he wants to. Its not his problem,
and he dosnt give a **** about messing up your honda.

Dre we have to work on your english.

I absolutely cannot believe that that damn pin would fall out if properly installed - meaning inserted all the way, and the retaining clip put back on.

Yes, it's supposed to be replaced after each use, but unless you've taken one in and out 50 times I just don't see it "sliding out".

I'm not doubting that yours came out... just saying that you, or whoever is doing your mechanic work should do a better job.

I agree 100%.

Sounds like shoddy work, missing parts, or you just had a bolt holding it together.

Consider yourself lucky. Imagine what could have happened if the linkage had hung up on a pothole or bump while you were still moving...

the person who put my first honda together did a shitty job and left out the washers where the bushings go. one day while driving to school i was shifting into 2nd and the linkage came off the tranny. it then got caught in a pot hole and bent the **** out of it. luckily nothin else broke, but it still sucked. i will never buy another modded car put toghter by someone else.

Yeah, that sux. I had my rear sway bar & lower tie bar installed the other day. So a few days after that my lower tie bar falls off as I'm driving, i drag the thing a half a block and pull over. Its looks like either someone tried to steal it or the bolts backed out somehow (the bolts to one of the sway bar mounts fell off too ). Anyways it sucked .
