Default 2 subs faced oppositely

im thinking of 2 12 inch subs in sealed boxes on top of each other one facing right one left in the back of my vitara

its the only way i can get the 2 boxes to fit as they are cube and only fit longway

how do you think it would sound? im used to facing them back but i hate the rattling and they would look badass as youd see them through the window reeking havoc

cancellation would be an issue? other choices are both in one direction or both facing upwards

I dont think cancellation will be an issue, but it might not sound that good. The subs would have completely different sounds. The sub facing the hatch would receive a natural bass boost probably in the 50-100Hz range and the other sub would not. If you want my opinion, instead of buy 2 good subs you should spend about the same amount of money on 1 REALLY good sub. Modern high end subs like the JW w7 have sooo much excursion and motor strength that they can pound just as hard as 2 pretty good subs like comp vrs while sounding much better and taking up less space. I think you will also find, as I did, that once you get a system that really pounds you wont want to crank the bass as much as you thought you would. I ended up playing my system at about 1/3 its potential for 95% of the time. I must be getting old.

good advice but they would be faced left and right NONE would be faced in the hatch or forward i know that would sound like crap

one box would be facing left one right the boxes are long rectangular you know

i'd love to use a single sub but until i can save up enough to buy an l7 or a w7 im stuck with what i can afford, my single w6 kicks hard but lacks alot and the 6ohms cvoice coils are tricky with a single sub

i plan to get a orion h2 a w7 or a 15l7 as a single sub facing FORWARD bt until then

Vteg is correct,

You would be fine this is called an Isobaric configuration. Your box size should be half what one woofer requires and the speakers should be wired out of phase.

great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i thought of the out of phase thingy, but why would the boxes need to be half the size? i was thinking of buying the pre fab sealed boxes i see leathered up in the store

the MAIN reason i want to do it is vibration, if i face it in the hatch it virates like **** if i face it forward it isn't loud enough

ill try it with the normal boxes out of phase then ill build smaller boxes so they can be on the same level instead of on top of each other

thanks honda tech
