your sleeping at the light and you need to practice your launches. Keep practicing, you want to shallow stage, and leave on the third amber not on the green.
Yeah, you could easily get that 60' time down to like 2.3 or 2.2... most of it is in the launch.
How are you launching? I normally drop my tire pressure to like the low 20s. Then launch with the engine rev'd to like 5-5.5krpm and practically just drop the clutch.

Not bad for your first time. However, as everyone says, the launch is everything. Especially with a GSR, your times should be slightly better.
Find out where your peak torque is, rev up to about 500 below that, and slip the clutch quickly on the third yellow light (not green). Practice in a parking lot. You'll probably bog or spin too much most of the time until you get it right.
Nice runs though.....best of luck dude.

I will be running again this saturday, and hopefully get 15.6-15.7

I think some springs would help you with the wheel hop. The H&R OE's don't even lower the car that much, but they have a 270# spring rate up front. You should consider getting new shocks too with those. Adjustable shocks help launches a lot too, but I don't know by how much because I have not been to the track with them.
Definitely avoid the stock Michelins if you want traction. When springs and tires were my only speed-helping mods (stock motor; no intake, header, or shocks) I could turn in a 15.1@92.5. That's faster than most "real world" I/H/E GSRs driven by most people (of course there are some faster, but your average modded GSR at the track does a 15.5 here
).
You should concentrate on getting your times down before you dump a lot into modifications, though. With a GSR in the state yours is in (age+intake) it is potentially capable of almost a second better in the 1/4. PRACTICE FIRST! When you are starting out, it yields better results than most modifications you do.

thats a decent time, its the trap that bothers me somewhat... you should be trapping at around 90 even if you are stock.... when is the last time the car had a tune-up?

When is the best time to shift, I was think about that today, I redlined 1st, 2nd, 3rd and when I went to 4th I was already through, does this have anything to do with the times!
I beleive a GS-R needs to be shifted just a little before redline. As for the tune up, you could possibly be in need of one.
As for the launch, try about 23 psi in the front and instead of dropping the clutch, bring the revs up to 5000 and slip it...

damn that high of time in a gsr, its all about driving i guess. my LS times (short ram intake, and exaust, 16 in rims and 80 degree night)
R/T - .590
60' - 2.368
330 - 6.771
1/8 - 10.405
mph- 67.25
1000- 13.530
1/4 - 16.188

My GSR was able to get a 15.6 at 95 degrees out w/just a short-ram intake/underdrive pulleys w/stock balled out michelins. With better tires, I think it was good for a 15.1-15.2 because of the poor 60' times it was producing. '99 GSR.
R/T has nothing to do with 1/4 mile time.
Ive gotten a 15.1 @ 93 at the track with my setup (CAI, LSD) with the stock michelins! Ive managed a 14.89 on the street with a better surface with a gTECH. Im able to avoid wheel hop from over inflating my tires. Im dumping at 6-7k and getting really good hard launches. And Im just grazing the rev limiter in every gear. Practice your quick shifting, if you can shave off .25 sec from every shift, thats an entire second.
Course now I have different tires so i have to play with my launches again. I recommend that Z10 kit to eliminate wheel hop. It will do a much better job than springs or stupid engine mounts will.
98bluepearlGS-R, I heard you say you drop the clutch at 4500 up there in the posts. Don't just drop the clutch. That's one of the reasons you're going to get wheel hop. You want to slip the clutch quickly around that rpm.
the day I bought my 95' GS-R I ran a 15.3 but I don't have my slips here at work to show
keep practicing I usually launch at about 1300 to 1500 because my tires suck and will just go up in smoke if I launch much higher
but everyone get's the feel of it after awhile.

My 2000 gsr went 14.9 with i/h/e. the first time it went 14.9 was when Evil drove it, the second time i drove it, i went 15.0 then 14.9 afterwards. All this was accomplished with shitty michellins.
what brand and type I/H/E GSRACER? Just wondering if i see any correlation btwn. good products and good performance.

The tire pressure was at 26 the last 3 runs, I rev'd to about 4500-5000 and dropped it and had alot wheel hop.

yeah, as others have said, don't worry about your RT right now, as that doesn't add onto your time, work on your 60' with the way you launch, try feathering the clutch out instead of just dumping off of it.
once you get your 60' down, then work on your RT.
