Default Brakes help!

How do you push in the caliper piston on the rear brakes?
I'm changing my brake pads and can't get the piston to move.

Should be a plus(+) sign on the piston inside. Rather than pushing it in, turn that plus sign with some pliers or something of that nature and it should move in and out....

Okay, I tired turning it with a srew dirver and pliers but it still won't move. I even used a c-clamp to try to push it in. Does this mean my calipers are froze and I need new ones?

Rear calipers are reset using a tool to turn the piston. If you have the correct gadget it fits on the end of a ratchet and should turn fairly easily. If not then something is wrong.

Yeah, I tried using a flat metal file to turn the caliper which would probaly give me the same amount of torque that the special tool would, so I think my rear calipers are froze. Also, I did do some hand brake skid turns for fun, would that mess up my rear calipers?

they probably are froze to a degree, what you need to do
is pull the boot back that
goes around the piston and then spray some yield or some kind of rust
penetrant in there and see if it will free up

yeah man if your calipers never been replaced or rebuilt and your lude's got like 80+K on it I think thats when the guy at my shop says they like to fail... just the rears mainly... not the fronts. But ya you can get that tool for like less than $10 i think at your local yokel parts store. I had to use that on my 86 and my 89 lude its common for all hondas i think.

Ok, I think I'm going to try and rebuild my rear calipers. How hard are they to take apart and rebuild? I have the helms diagram so do I just pretty much just use that as a guide?

man, i seriously doubt your calipers being bad, just take a big *** flat head screwdriver and turn those suckers clockwise, it is not easy either, trust me you can do it, and if you can take a caliper apart and rebuild, hopefully you have time to do it, it is a bit time consuming

Try to move those pistons man!

Alright, I fixed it. I took the caliper off stuck it in a vise and took a big flat head screwdriver and turned the piston out. I scraped of all the rust from the piston and inside of the caliper then put it back together and so far it works fine.
