Default Exhaust help. Please read.

Alright. Here is the deal. I have a swapped out hatch that is currently making around 170 to the front wheels. I plan to stay NA, no boost or anything. When I got the car, the exhaust was hacked up and did not have a cat. Obviously, this won't fly in California so I made my own exhaust. I wanted 2.5" to compliment the JDM header so I got a high flow cat, 2.5" glass pack and a 2.5 turbo muffler. I had the piping custom made and was happy. Problem is this exhaust is loud... almost too loud and I think its damaging my hearing as a result. Its deep as hell right now and I am looking for ways to quiet it down. Everyone at the local muffler shops seem to tell me that no matter what, a 2.5" exhaust is going to be loud, thats all there is to it. I don't want to restrict the hell out of because that would defeat the purpose of running 2.5" to begin with. Does anyone have any suggestions on ways I could quiet this system down? Perhaps you know of a good muffler thats not too loud? Anything would help, I need it better then it currently is.

the people at your muffler shop are retarded

have 1 or even 2 resonator(s) welded in. that will quiet it down. you could also get a good muffler, magnaflow, etc.
