Default Very Low Idle at times

Hey guys, Every once in a while, usually after coming off the highway....when i stop at a light or something, my rpm's will drop down to like 200, but it wont stall. After a little while the problem seems to go away.

Any ideas?

Maybe you're motor is running lean. Could also be a small vacuum leak.

Ok, have you changed anything recently like the TPS, throttle body, coolant etc?
Have you tried resetting the ECU?

Why would you reset the ECU for no reason?
You normally reset your ecu after you've did something or unplugged, etc

Disconnect your IACV power harness

Then turn the idle screw to the left barely any.
(flat head screw driver)

remove the 7.5amp backup fuse from the underhood fuse box for 10 seconds and this will clear any idle trouble codes from the ECM'S memory.

Then start the car up and see if your idle is fixed.

If it raised it up but not enough then repeat the process..

goodluck

In my experiecnce resetting the ecu can fix a lot of idle problems, it's definately worth trying before pulling valves and coolant lines anyway.

I had this same problem. It was the Cold Idle Valve( I think that's the name) sticking.

Take off your intake tube. Inside your TB there is a hole going to the IACV, there is also one going to the Cold Idle. Once your motor begins to idle really low, place your finger over the hole. If doing that fixes it, then you know its your cold idle.

This cold idle valve is directly under the TB and should have 3 vacuum hoses coming off of it. One at the rear and 2 at the front. You can unscrew it and place some plastic over the hole and reassemble it, or you can disconnect it and bipass it all together.

BTW...I tried everything else mentioned on all the previous posts and I was still having the problem...this fixed it.

If you want to try the coolant bypass: http://www.lyonel.orcon.net.nz/tb_bypass.htm
