My hatch runs mid 14's. Not exactly slow, but not exactly quick either.

I have a friend that is knocking on the 12 second door N/A (13.0 to be exact).

I have acquiantances that are in the 12's and the 11's.

All with EF's.

Still think they're all slow?

just about every ef is slow, unless they are swapped or turboed. I know a bunch of guys with ef's that are fast, they're swapped.

When I'm done with the heart transplant, mine will be low 13's/high 12's.

I'm coming in under $10,000, and thats counting 93 eg, b-16 swap, jrsc,all basic bolt ons and fuel system upgrades and my new 91 crx si shell.

i smoke 60 thousand dollar cars all the time ... hmm let's think about this...
88 crx hf = 1600
b18c1 = 2700
headwork = 500
cams = 1000

the face on a corvette owner when i pass him = priceless

well our cars werent meant to be fast.. but when a front wheel drive inline 4 keeps up with a rear wheel drive v8 i think that's pretty impressive...

Imagine the price of hatches if they had been fast from the factory. Used hatches would be like 3 to 5 thousand and we couldn't afford to mod them. Its nice owning a car that cost little to operate and maintain and still is quick enough to make the drive enjoyable, and its also nice to know I can mod it as I feel and its potential is only hampered by my lack of cash not options.

crx w/b18a - 2000$, -250$ for the extra set of wheels that came with it that i sold

14.7's on street tires w/ 2.1 60'

so 1,750$ i have a mid-high 14 sec car

not too bad in my mind....

OT a little, but I was just reading a book about mid-level muscle cars of the '70's.
Not the suprer-fast wild big blocks but the small block, mid-level power engined cars. And they did mid to low 14's, with big torque american V8's. In those overweight, bad handling, bad braking cars, with NO fuel emiisions.
So I don't think civics and CRX's are all that bad considering what they are and how little they cost.
Just my .02 cents.

Wouldn't it take all the fun away if they weren't slow to begin with?

I think the challenge of making a small slow economy car fast is half the fun of it!

The other half is driving!

I always have loved the EF body because it feels like a go-kart to me

My POS CR-X =$1,000
Stock D16A6 =Free (came in the car)
Turbo Setup =$1,500
Extra running longblock =$50 (just gotta know the right people)
WHP @ 8lbs =170-180
CR-X weight =2100lbs

Add all that up and invest some time in research, and you have a low 14 or high 13 second car for about $3,000
