OiL light stays on in my 90 crx HF
I've put a b16a in my crx HF, Ever sense i got the car running and drivable, the oil list stays on, I've put 1300 miles on it and it has never locked up so it has oil pressure, I've changed the oil pressure switch out also, but the oil list stays on what else could it be?
have you added oil!?! DUH! The oild light comes on to tell people like you to add more oil or that something is very wrong. It's not the sender... ADD SOME DAMN OIL!
PS. Your oil pump could be bad too

ok read the bottem of my post, it's not the sender for sure, something is very wrong with your engine, dont drive it untill you locatre the problem
There is no way to check the oil pump, its mechanical. I would look into 2 things, a new oil pump and new bearings for the engine. If the clearance is to high your oil pressure will be low.
make sure the black plug under the dizzy on the left of the valve cover is plugged in properly, its the oil pressure sensor and if its bad it will throw that light.
just a thought.
just a thought.

what is a dizzy? and i replaced what i thought was the oil pressure switch, located on the back side on the left side of the oil filter one wire sensor.. is that what you talking about? or is that a different sensor.

the oil switch is a NC switch (meaning normally closed).. your oil light is actually always on - oil pressure is what turns it off, so if the sensor was switch out twice then there is something wrong with the circuit (probably not) or the oil pressure is !LOW!
Your 'drive it and see if it locks up' test is not very bright

What plug are you talking about ? The only plug over there that has to do with oil pressure is the vtec plug and that is not under the distributor and it would through the check engine light but it would not through the oil low light.

i would get an oil presure gauge on it rite awy to see what kind of pressure you have that will tell you a whole lot. instead of swaping parts in and out. if you have good oil pressure check your wire s for -> -> thats a start!!

Yeah, a mechanical autometer oil pressure gauge. you NEED one first.

Hey man. Don't confuse them anymore than they already are! lol

haha.. my job is all about sensors and switches so i might get a little carried away sometimes.. but that is very basic switch knowledge...

I forgot to say, there is a hair line crack, in between the head, and head gasket. It don't start bubblin oil through it til the oil gets hot and thin, but its constantly lossing oil pressure, i didn't think it was that much oil pressure and oil to have the light on 24/7. The leak is located right under the vtec where the seal is between the head and head gasket at that corner of the head.
