Default What to get??? 94-99 Integra

First I have been out of the scene for about 4 years now and the scene is absolutely out of control. When I first started in the import scene having a swap was big ****. I was part of a group call SPEEDWORKS RACING going to Ontario races, Carson races, Battle, Pomona. I was pretty involved in import racing and street racing. Wicked racing with Vit Lam and i remember Tony Fuch with his integra going to battle in palmdale hanging in the Hotel were a RIOT broke out and it was fun as ****. JO JO also who seems to be a superstar now with Steph and his full race car. So I know a lot about this stuff but as I pick up a Superstreet the other day I dont even know where to start?

I want to sell my lifted truck(I'm a white boy) and get back into the scene because it seems their are soooo many options out their now. Back in the day we had to grind our own cams, basically make our cam sprockets and pulley from alum and their was like 4 intake companies and header/exhaust companies.

Well my point is I'm looking at getting a 94-95 Integra Gsr. I figure the engine is the ****. Dont have to swap or go out and find a shell(hatchback civic). the engine is their and I can mod it without to much ****. Plus I like integra because it looks good with mugen rims and a carbon fiber hood

Or should I get a Hatch swap in a B16A (no ls/v-tech ****), GSR swap to expensive and to much effort, I guess . but anything i do is going to take effort so i guess i gust contradicted myself

Someone help????

I will have about $6000 when i sell my truck.

It's only a few hundred more than a second gen B16A with LSD, and will require exactly the same amount of effort that any B16 swap will.

But of course I would buy a hatch rolling chassis, get a B16A, have it sleeved to 85mm , get an LS crank and rods, get some custom high compression pistons, get a DC JDM 4-1 header, some CTR cams, and I'd make some ITB's to run with it. I'd also gut the car down to as little as possible and slap some good tires on it, and run it with a chipped P28 and we're looking at very low 13's or possibly high 12's in the quarter mile (and an autocross setup is just a set of Ground Controls and a rear sway bar away). All within the $6000 budget.

What would JO JO, Vit Lam, Tony Fuch, or Steph suggest you do. I'm sure they know just as much or just a little tiny bit more( ) than most of us here on HT nowadays. Is there anyone elses name you forgot to drop.......hmmm, maybe Mr. Bergenholtz

Anyway, hate to sound cliche.............search

The last EG we bought, we got for $500 with a complete suspension and interior. The engine was fucked though. I was using this price as a starting point. There's nothing wrong with getting an H22, but remember that the mounts and other peripheral parts will chew into the budget whereas B series mounting brackets can be found in junkyards.

I didn't mean to scald him..........I just found all the name dropping annoying and that with his experience seem to contradict the simple and subjective nature of his question. I don't like coming off like a total ********........but anyway.
My suggestion, (cause this is what I'm in the process of doing right now), is get a 94-95 integra.....I picked up my RS (nice light weight teg) with a blown motor but very good everything else (including clean title/history) for $1400. Spent a few hundred more on a b18b longblock, dropped it in, and now I'm saving for a good turbo setup and block guard with whatever else I might need. I don't plan on having spent more than $4500 for a nice turboLS (RS) teg putting down anywhere from 225 to 300 hp to the wheels with tq numbers in the 250 to 275 lbs range.

But my point is, what he can get and what he can do might be very different from what I could do (for better or worse), so it would benefit him to do his own independent research (aside from people's opinion which there is already tons of on HT without making another thread for it) and ultimately get what suits him best.
Good luck

Are you serious. I was just making a statement that these guys were nothing when i entered the scene. I would go to the street races here in Southern Cali, and race with these guys when they had **** boxes, same with me. We would wrench on our cars at the tracks and have a good time, but now they have Blown up and the technology is out of control, I dont know where to start. No need to get angry. But you probably wouldn't know, where do you live, oh New York, sorry.

and whats up with the SEARCH thing, isnt this a forum for asking questions, I'm a newbie here, sorry

Thanks Kendall for the info. and 707 eclipse for standing up for me.

man, I already apologized for coming off kinda like a ******** (read my second post), though name dropping is name dropping, and I gave my opinion as to one good way to start up if you want a teg, but it's just that.....and you'll get a whole bunch more of them if people are willing to take the time to re-write what I'm sure they have already wrote somewhere on the integra forum/ civic forum already which is why searching is a good idea. Anyway, now I feel like I'm wasting time myself..........good luck to you
