Did some searching and decided I pretty much want Boost, EGT, and Oil pressure for now. I am on a budget but I don't want worthless guages. Basically looking for advice on brand or series that are good for low buck. Or which brand or series to avoid due to lack of quality or accuracy. TIA
If you want good low buck gauges, go with Autometer ELECTRIC gauges. Their mechanical gauges work great but do have failures.

So as far as Autometer goes is there a difference between the phantom, pro comp, or carbon fiber? Other than appearance? I wish Wired Speeds site had pics. And does Greddy make electrical guages? All I see are mechanical on WS.
If you have any pics or a site with pics or awesome prices, please post it up.

I wouldn't put the list like that. If Autometer is good enough for pro and nascar it's damn well good enough for me lol. Check Autometer's site each has it's own advantage. My set is the Ultra-Lite, there silver face and are for the real speed people. Most Nascar and pro racer use these gauges. There suppose to me lighter I just like them cause the look clean and have a silver face. They have yet to let me down.
yeah..autometer is good for what they are, but there are a few locals around here who have had inaccuracies and quality issues. My friend who had autometer ultralites guages initially, eventually upgraded to greddy 52mm guages. Before the switch, his autometer always read 8psi and we always knew he had a .4bar tial spring. After doing the switch...greddy read .4bar exactly. Other friends have had inaccurate fuelpressure and egt readings from autometer. And if you do a search, there are plenty of complaints about autometer. There are plenty of praises too, and im not saying autometer is just plain crap, just saying they are at the bottom of the ladder. And to answer a previous question, yes greddy does offer electrical guages.

the way i look at it .. why short yourself on one of the most important tools of knowing how your car is functioning?? you're spending a decent amount of $$ on a setup .. why not have the peice of mind that your gauges are functioning and giving proper readouts? its not a huge $$ difference!

LOL..you dork..if thats all you can afford...then just run the autometer.

See, now is that for real or are they decent? Because I would like to save the money and go with some Autometers, that way I can afford Boost EGT and Oil pres.
But if they're worthless then yeah, I might as well not have any guages and save all the money than sink $xxx into worthless guages. Or I could maybe get two Greddy guages...boost and...which is more important EGT or oil pres? I am thinking oil pres.

Save some cash and I think all you really need is AEM's Gauge-Type Wideband UEGO Controller and a Greddy Mechanical Turbo Gauge. If this is a street car that is.....well the AEM may be overkill and you can find cheaper wideband 02 displays

all i've run for the past 5 months is boost gauge .. working on getting a wideband o2 with display.

Ok, I am off to price the AEM unit. What exactly would I be controlling? Yes daily driver street car.

the aem wideband just provides a readout of your a/f ratio. i'd say get a wideband, most are $300-$500 depending if you get one that datalogs, a boost gauge, and either oil press or fuel press.
i say get this:
its a turbo timer, a/f, o2 and a volt reader. its probably as accurate as the autometer crap cauz it reads from the same wire as almost every other gauge reads from. but the good thing is that its digital!!! so u actually know where it is and not have to guess weither its rich, stock, or lean!

trust me, i have autometer and this tt and i look at this ratehr then at the gauge

haha better have some great eye sight to stare at that little screen! An when u say a/f wouldnt it be still be reading of the stock 0-1v o2 sensor?? If so thats usless for tunning purposes. Might as well have an autometer a/f gauge.
Greddy is my choice i bought my boost gauge for like 100 beans.

the a/f readout for that turbo timer is rediculously inaccurate. just get the PLX M-300 .. its like $310, compatible with Hondata and has a digital display!!

the M-400 and M-500 are wireless units w/ datalogging capablilty. The M-300 and below are non-datalogging units!

Ok, I would be more in the price range of three $100 guages, not one $300 one. I am going to use hondata but plan to have it professionally tuned, so since I won't be doing the tuning I don't think an A/F guage would be beneficial to me. I am mostly just interested in the boost and oil pressure so I will know if/when there is a problem and hopefully decrease the risk of further damage.
And since its either spend my $ on a wide band 02 and pimp **** guages oron pro tuning, and the tuning seems to be the most important part, I think I am going to have to try to be conservative with the guages.
So mainly what I need is the best price I can get on reliable guages. But I don't want to have boost spikes and the guage not notice them...or an oil pressure drop that the guage doesn't register...see what I'm sayin?
So how important is an EGT guage? I mean what does knowing the exhaust gas temp do for you?

For greddy 52mm electrical guages, your looking at 115 for the boost guage, 145 for the oilpressure, and 145 for the egt guage. http://www.aieonline.com or give Kyle a call at wiredspeed.
