throttle body without manifold
would putting on a bigger throttle body help gain in performance if I dont get a better flowing intake manifold? In other words....do i need a performance intake manifold (skunk 2) if I get a bigger throttle body?
It would help but not as much as getting a bigger intake manifold like Skunk2. Its getting high air flow thru the big throttle body and then less air flow in your stock intake manifold.
Its like having just an exhaust canister on some stock piping in your car. Probably wouldn't dyno anything.

just upgrading the tb wont really do anything because if you think about it what good is a bigger tb if its just gonna be bottle-necked anywase. if you get a bigger one you could always get an aftermarket manifold like skunk 2 or edelbrock. your other option is to port match your current manifold. if you do that then i think you will notice a difference and also better throttle response
Need to match the manifold to the throttle body. Not hard I'll be doing this soon myself. I ordered and extra manifold off ebay and a 68mm throttle body.
I run a turbo system but with a NA engine you may need to tune your motor to take advantage of the new manifold and throttle body. Luckly my car is starving for fuel and air so anything I do will improve it.

I actually took my stock tb and machined a larger inner diameter in it. I didn't port match my IM to match yet but as far as power, nothing noticable. I did completely polish the inside of the TB and have noticed better throttle response. I am guessing this is cause by lest "drag" in the throttle body. Be careful not to machine where the throttle plate is unless you have a larger diameter plate. I would suggest leaving the throttle plate in and using a dremel bit with a taper on the end to round the final progression to the stock diameter by the throttle plate and then do the same on the other side of the plate. I mean you do still have a little "hump" in the throttle body that will cause resistance but the expanded opening should flow better or at least slightly better. Happy Tuning!

I have a fully built SOHC motor. Unfortunately I got bored and never finished what I started. So I still have the stock TB, manifold, injectors, and 2.5inch downpipe and exhaust. I really need to change those parts before I can safely see 300hp.
