Default Has anyone done the "05" Acura TL Caliper conversion on their RSX?

Like the title say. I have a chance to get the 2005 Acura TL 2 pot Calipers for dirt cheap and brand new from the dealership.

I read some where a while back some people were attempting to do this conversion.

Does anyone know about calipers regarding 2 pot, 4 pot ? I know the rsx comes with a single pot caliper, but I was wondering how hard it would be to install the TL caliper.

might need to make a custom bracket for it and get shim it so the caliper doesn't slide off..

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by blackdc5 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Find out the specs of the TL Calipers. If the TL uses anything bigger than 11.8" rotors, it might be too much trouble because you'd have to get different rotors, wheels (although I think you have the ITR 17"s right?)...Unless they are two pistons and offer a significant increase in stopping power and fade resistance (rotor surface area), (doubt an OE piece would be 4 pot) they might not be worth it overall to me.

Why? Because I don't know if there would be enough aftermarket support for the TL braking system. If you're still on OE brake pad compounds, don't expect a big difference in stopping power.

For reference, I swapped from base 10.8" (?) to Type S 11.8" front brakes on my RSX and because I am using OE pads, stopping power is relatively the same. The only benefit (as of now, w/o aftermarket pads, etc) would be better heat dissipation because of more rotor surface area.

But the conversion (or any at that) would be cool to do. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I do have the ITR rims so bigger rotors and would not be a problem with me. I looked into the calipers a bit more and it seems to cover an 13-14 rather the the 11.8. I will search a bit more on this matter tho. I heard that a few people were doing this conversion so that's what sparked my interest.

As for aftermarket brake pads cobalt friction might be making some, I am not sure but I could always give andy a call and find out.

The TL caliper is a 2 pot brake system, and the rsx-s is a single pot so this was one of the reason I wanted to see if this would work.

Very true, I did the same conversion on my 02 Si. If you don't have better pads, you won't feel much of a difference. Pads make the world of a difference!

The Type S brakes are alot better. The reason you are probably not feeling alot better braking is because you don't have the prop valve. I've driven both cars and they are very different in braking.

Hi. I'm looking for comparisons to RSX Type-S caliper to.....anything.

Anyone have any casting numbers on the Type-S calipers or brackets or interchangability of brake pads, lookin for as much info on them as possible.
