93 civic hatchback... pity me.. i have questions.
i have a ::shudders:: civic hatchback CX with an 8 valve 1.5L and i was wondering if i got a DX 16 valve top end, would it bolt up to my CX bottom end? would this and a DX or SI transmission give me more power? turbo charging would be my next step, would having a DX engine just make it hard to turbo? i'm unexperienced with engines and need some answers. thanks!
To do all that it sounds like you'd be spending close to the cose of a z6 motor (especially if you had a shop do it)
Otherwise, im not 100% sure, but I think the CX cam isnt design for 16 valve. Meaning there is only space for 2 valves on the cams.
There was a thread not to long ago where someone posted CX cams and only 2 had space for 4 valves only 2.
Someone verify this for him and me, I dont know CX's all to well.

Once again people...dont speak unless you know!!! I can believe the amount of wrong information people try to pass off as knowledge!

a d16z what? 8? Shut up now, because you know nothing.
Speaking FROM EXPERIENCE on many cx pistons there ARE 4 valve reliefs. I have done it to my old cx motor, and know someone who has done the same to his, both of them were 5 gen cx motors.
Now, just because you can, does not mean I would reccomend it. If you plan on turbo'ing, I would swap a z6 motor in and call it a day, much better internals (relatively speaking of course) for boost.

what u should instead of wasting all that money and still be slow is just invest in
gsr motor B18C1 that motor stock alone will give u the same power as that turbo charged motor will thats what u should do

once agian people speaking before knowing. You should spend a little more time looking around, there are some significant #'s being put down on SOHC turbo's. Much better than stock gsr #'s. Hell, my SOHC turbo, with a t3 from a 85 thunderbird @ 7lbs made 173hp and 159ft lbs @ the wheels; all for less than $1500. For what my goals are, a b series motor swap can kiss my ***

From what I hear both piston types could be had with a CX motor??

here mang https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=635580 for the swap.
like the link above, search for bauleycivic, he is the mini-me master...that link should show you what you need...but i would recommend just getting a z6 it will be better down the line and it will maybe be cheaper
