too big for what? lol. it really depends. on some sub, once you go TOO big, the enclose is defined as infinite baffle. that is, if the box is four times the complicance of the recommended size box. For the Comp VR they'll work good in a big box, except you reduce mechanical power handling, and upper bass frequency. But you do gain efficiency, smoother frequency response and a more accurate bass response.

Yeah. It becomes infinite baffle.

Even if its not big enough to cause damage to the motor structure, large deviations from recommended enclosure size can drastically affect sound quality. If you are looking for a clean look you should build cover panels around a properly sized enclosure. This has the added benefit of providing space to hide things you don't wish to display such as wires, distribution blocks, etc.

I think JL still has box specs somewhere on their website for the old W6s. If you can't find it navigating their site, try an internet search and the page might show up there. As far as the Kickers are concerned, the box info should also be on their website or it may also come with the subs when you buy them. If none of these work, go on their websites and look for technical support phone numbers and/or email addresses and give them a holla. Good companies like JL and Kicker are usually willing to help out their customers a little.
good point i bought the jl used id buy the kickers new id just show the box guy the manual and make sure he builds it correctly, ill be going sealed though as im confused about port size and lenght and all that HEADACHE AHHH! : hammer:
