Default h22a turbo/hatchback... how much boost can it take?

ive got a 93 h22a that i got from hmotorsonline.com and my bro had my computer reburned for me and it is already pushing about 245-260 horses to the flywheel. i have a turbo that i want to put on it but my last h22 the rod gave before i had the chance to bolt it on. how many pounds of boost should i run for a daily driver that loves to eat up mustangs? i already have a blockgaurd in it but still not sure about rods and pistons...

What do you have in mods for it to be putting 245-260 hp to the flywheel

I'd run about 10 cans of boost... if you really want to you can throw in 3 or 4 bars too.

seriously, try a search. sorry to be an ***, but you'll find ALL the info you'll ever need on this topic as it is discussed 10x a week.

2.5 inch straight pipe right out the side of the car, cold air intake and what ever my bro had done to the computer but everyone told me that the h22 in a hatchback only runs mid to low 14s and my first run i ran a 13.2 at 106

how does your car have 245-260 hp at the flywheel with only those mods? h22a does not respond to bolt ons like a k-series does...

first of all i think k series are jsut trash, i vtec sucks, and your car is prolly slow because of it. but i also forgot to add that the h22 has a plate in the intake manifold just like a gsr. now when i first got mine together is was running really rich. so i knocked out the whole plate setup and turned it into just a nice open plenum and the intake runners are now knife edged to split the air cleanly

lol k-series suck? i have a 01 prelude and i want a k24/k20a2 head in there, you obviously do not know the N/A potential of a k-series engine.

and i still do not think those mods will yield you that much flywheel hp... for those mods, there still would not be 245-260 hp

Heh, your brother probably tuned it with a shitload of timing advance. I wouldn't boost on that tune. BOOM.

By saying he has an H22a, I would assume it is a JDM, 10.6:1 compression variety. Open header, shitload of timing advance, I can believe he was making about 190 whp.

And I heart K series engines.

the bone stock h22a JDM is 220 flywheel horses, going from a stock airbox to nice fresh air through the hood, the very obvious computer mods, and cutting out the guts of a restictive plate in the intake which now gets 3x as much air with out all the turbulence... plus the straight pipe that like i said straight out the side of the car... i think all of that has definately raised it at least 25. like i said everyone predicted 14s i ran 13.2

Ah, but you haven't dyno'd it, have you

1. Dyno car.
2. Scan dyno.
3. Post thread.

And like I said above, only boost on that current tune if you want to blow your motor.

honda rates it at 200, not 220 unless its h22a7 i think (type s 11:1 comp) and i doubt u would get 200 at the flywheel anyways stock, so figure 190-195 at the flywheel/165-170 whp before ur bros mods

who cares about flywheel hp anyway, it's all about what you put to the wheels.

93 JDM h22a motors has about 195 to the flywheel... and on my dyno i only dynoed 165 with 133 tq.. i ran 13.5 so i would highly doubt that u have 245 to the flywheel..
