stolen car chase and catch
Hey guys I just joined a couple of weeks ago and this happened this past December so I figured I'd tell you the story. Here ya go:
About 2:45am on Dec 3, 2003 my car was stolen from my house. I had just climbed into bed when I heard a real low exhaust tone and a couple of doors shut. I jumped up and looked out my window and my car was gone. I threw on my pants, shirt, and shoes w/out socks and ran to my mom's room looking for her keys. I couldn't find hers so I ran downstairs grabbed my sister's keys for her 99 cougar and ran back upstairs to get my cell phone. I hauled *** out the door jumped in the car. I was driving with a t-shirt and jeans freezing my tail off. I called 911 and while I was talking to the operator I saw them pulling onto I-97. I followed them all the way to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and that's when the cops got there. They arrested the driver immediately but the other guy in my car jumped into the other car and they took off. The cops eventually caught all of them with their dogs. One guy was complaining of heart problems and the cop said yeah that's what happens when a dog gets sent on you. I drove my car back keyless cuz it was I thought it was hotwired and had to fill it up with gas while it was running. My dad went to get gas while I was at the police station and he stalled it. I went there and hooked up the battery and pop-started it and went home and stalled it in the garage and disconnected the battery. My alarm wires were cut under my hood, the alarm horn was ripped off, and my battery was disconnected. My ignition is all kinds of tore up but they are all arrested and I'm pressing charges. I got those f'ing thieves. HAHAHA
I have a court date April 29th at 9 in the am. The State's Attorney called the other day and asked what I wanted done and I said everything possible and he said ok.
They are from around Prince George's county and one is from Fairfax, VA and I didn't recognize the one guy but I haven't seen the rest yet but I will. I didn't recognize any of the names though. The four that ran got all kinds of cut up by jumping barb wire fences and having the dog sent on 'em. They were all bleeding and **** the cop told me. I didn't have an alarm on my hood pop and that was my problem so that's in the works. I need a fuel cutoff, too.
I was home for like 3 hours before they tried to steal it, too. I always check behind me so I don't think they followed me. I think they scouted it out before and decided to do it. They picked the wrong car to steal.
I was suprised when they were only doing like 55 on a 65 speed limit road. I guess they didn't want to get pulled over. If they took off it would've been hell trying to keep up with them in that cougar. Thank God they didn't get away.
Here's some pics of the damage:

How does this work out for the repairs then? I imagine their insurance company won't cover them in this case. Do you sue them and get the money from them personally?
Good luck man. Let us know how it turns out.

That's awesome!
You are really lucky they didn't try to run from the cops.
I'm sure that would have been a mess...
Congrats on not losing your car.
