unorthodox pulley ?
hey i've had an unorthodox pulley for about 20,000 miles now and i've been hearing from a lot of people that after a while the pulley will harm my motor. now i know this is true but is this accurate for all people or do some get away with it. i know the stock pulley has a balancer in it so it wont vibrate like the after market pulley over time. i've also heard there is a way to adjust the pulley so it wont vibrate but i need some advise on how. if it comes down to it i can get rid of the pulley cuz i still have my stock one in the garage but it was cheap power and i'de hate to get rid of it. so is my motor gonna be fine with the pulley or should i sell it?
dont listen to these ppl, it will not harm your motor, i have it and my motor is fine.
HOnda has just recently started putting those Harmonic vabrations on thier cranks, and before their cranks were fine.
And Honda is well known for having the most balanced cranks in teh car industry...so u have no worries in rebalancing.

Honda motors are harmonically balanced internally. No probs with unorthodox or Aem... the only thing I have heard of is slipping, but you don't seem to have that problem. Have you noticed any gains from the pulley? dyno? I have been thinking of it, but I think before I go that route, I will just ditch PS and AC for free!
Harmonic vibrations exist in the crankshaft even in properly balanced engines. A harmonic vibration frequency exists regardless of how well balanced your bottom end may be. The pulley is there to dampen this vibration and having perfect balance will not get rid of it.
yeah it gave me a lot of torque and about the same amount of hp as my 68 mm throttle body. it's very easy to install and it's like 200 dollars too. im glad it's safe because my 1st and 2nd gear wouldn't be the same without it. thanks.
oh yeah and the pulley gives you almost double the power when you take your power steering off where as with your stock pulley it helps but not that much. it's like 3 lbs and like 5 inches in diameter where as your stock one is atleast 10 lbs and 8 or 9 inches in diameter. change the pulley you'll like it a lot especially if your going to take your power steering off. i drive with mine off cuz i dont think its that bad.

I was reading the product discription online and it said that "Removal of torsional vibration damper NOT necessary. " So as long as the damper is place it should be fine i think. (Though im still a noob)

i had a question about the crank pulley. Will the unorthodox crank pulley work with the AEM pulleys?

Yes, that's what I have on mine, you just have to figure out the belt sizes by putting a string or such around them when the pulleys are installed....Then just go to Autozone/OReilly and get the belts.....

Oh, definately...picks up quicker and pulls harder...same concept as a lightwieght flywheel, but with underdrive on the ALT and P/S....

my UR crank pulley has been on for the past 35k miles. the motor has 190k miles on it now and the only thing i'm having issues with are the oil seals wearing out. which is bound to happen on any 12 year old motor.
hopefully i can get at least another 20k or so out of this motor.

I've heard rumors and concerns about the lack of a H/B...
I have a UR crank pulley from when they first came out, about 5-6 years ago, and its been installed on both my old H23 and 3 years ago on my new H22, and it works just fine.

ok well its not a UR pulley but its similar. To those of you that didnt go to the site they said that it looked like the crank bearings took a beating. So those of you who say your engine is fine, you will only know for sure if you remove the bearings and inspect them.
