Default JDM Conversion ?????

Ok. so my friend got in a container with 50 motors and along with the shipment, he received a jdm front end clip. This might be a personal question for some of you, but all comments are welcome and please let me know if i am invading someones privacy. I picked the front end up for 1000 non-hid and then my friends work at a collision body shop here in town. they are very professional at what they do will do the job correct in every detail. they want 2000 with materials included for the radiator support and smoothing out the body panels. They are kind rough, but when they are done, i have a ton of confidence they will be perfect. So in all i will have 3000. Now my question to my fellow honda-techers with conversions or ones with not conversions, what did you pay for your front end all together????? Do you think this is a good deal??? Thanks for all the comments.

A JDM front end is really nice. I once wanted one, but know everyone and there mom has one. It's really up to you, the price seems right to me, but it will be more expensive if you crash or get the front end vandalized. JDM fronts are expensive to repair.

I'll have close to $3000 in mine when I finally get it finished, however all of the body panels will be carbon fiber, and the only used parts are the headlights.

do you guys really think the jdm conversion is played out. I dont think so what so ever here in ILL. hah. in the sticks. Even a lot of people in cali dont have the front end, we all just see it a lot on this board, ya know. Most people do not go to the extent with the conversion because they want to put there money else where. bottom line is if YOU like it, that is all that matters. I absolutely think it is a cleaner look than usdm and is smoother. I guess we will just hae to see how she turns out.

That is what I said, it's your choice. But it's a lot of money in the long run, unless you plan never to get into an accident.

I say do it. The price is about right and that's basically how much i Paid for mine. Well 2k for paint the whole car (hooked me up) but spend 1500 on the hid conversion. Do it so there will be 4dc2 w/ a jdm conversion that are black. The results can look like this:

oh p.s. does your friend here in il, have a spare of hid headlights he's selln need a spare set just in case

I paid 1500 for paint and install. It came out pretty good looking. I'm happy with it, plus I think the next owner of the car will be as well.

a used kit varies, since it is used there might be small missing parts here and there. For example mine was missing the the grill clips, the rubber lining for the headlights that goes under the hood, hood latch n cable, and fender brackets. Again some may come complete and you might not need anything at all, but since it is used you'll probably have to get the rest of the parts o your own.

yeah but it wasn't just the front... it was the whole car. Usually the whole car costs over 3k to paint. The shop only charged me 2k for the whole car with the conversion. And if i was unsatisfied with their job they'd do it again for free. Good shop , they did a pretty good job on mine.

thats what i said. i say 1750 is a good price for what condition the front end is in. maybe i am an idiot for doing the front end, but it sounded right at the time and now that i look back at it, i paid to much money. You live and learn i guess.

My friend only got the one clip, so he does not have any extra hid headlights laying around. sorry bro..

$2000 seems to be a fair price. Just make sure the body shop that is installing the front end is a reputable shop, and that they have installed Jdm front ends in the past. Finally...... make sure the spot welds are clean. I have seen some really bad welds, so bad a 5 year old can do better. Good Luck!
