motor squeals HELP!
when my car is idling at about 750 rpm or lower it squeals. the sound it makes is exactly like a brake squeal. even when i shut the car off the last thing u hear is the squeal along with the intake. does anyone have any idea what this could be? its a constant humming squeal, but if you hit the gas it goes away. it never did this before. also, the motor stutters at about 1,500 to 2,000 rpm (in gear)in stutters for just 1 second and then its fine. it does it a few times a minute. if u leave it idle also it still does it. u can hear and feel the motor shake when it does it. can this have anything to do with the timing? suggestions needed. i cant figure it out.
could even be your heat shield under your exhaust rubbing with your pipeing. when your car is at low idle it shakes and when it shakes metal to metal it makes that EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE sound.
im thinking it might be one of the belts but im not sure. its a sudden thing. im going to clean it with degreaser and see what happens. does anyone have any ideas about the stuttering? its not the heat shield i dont have one. thanks for the replies.

i sprayed the belts down with armor all in case they were dried. the sound is still coming and its not a squeaky belt sound its a monotonous squeal like when someone hits the brakes and it squeals except its from the motor somewhere. i bought seafoam today and did that in the motor and it didnt help at all for me. the noise is still there the hesitation as well. the night before i sprayed intake and throttle body cleaner and it didnt help any at all either. does anyone have any other suggestions? the car idles normal, drives normal (other than the hesitation). btw it only hesitates at the lower rpm range 800 - 2000 range... what the hell could this be?
earlier i got some stp fuel injector cleaner and added it to the fuel. i had this problem before but i think it might have been the gas. however, i replaced the plugs, got throttle body cleaner and that fuel additive for the injectors. and that took care of the problem. this time i cant really figure it out. the plugs are clean fairly new not more than a year old. about 4 months old. i just regapped them 2-3 weeks ago. the car has alot of power when u stretch it out. there is no loss of power. its just that whining sound and that bogging. i kept tapping the pedal hard to the floor for a split second and sometimes it goes up normally and sometimes it bogs. one time even it was about to stall out, the rpms bogged so low that the battery and oil light came on but then it went up after. i need help please.

It's not your motor..........it's your alternator.........it's about to go bye-bye, and if you keep waiting it might take your battery with it.
Explanation: Have had a couple alternators go bad on a couple da's I've had......it start with occasional strange things like you described...until one day my lights shined exceptionally bright.....then a bunch of smoke started coming out my engine bay....then I open the car up and smell this nasty odor........sure enough my alternator looked like it was in a fire and my battery was spitting up acid...put acid everywhere and stunk up my block.
Anyway, get your alternator replaced before it does the same to you.....or at least get it check next time you are having problems.

Mine is a 94 and start doing that too. I think is the belt.</TD></TR></TABLE>
well first you have to decide which belt is the culprit. you better hope its the power steering belt, because it is by far the easiest to adjust...it wouldnt be a bad idea to replace it because they are inexpensive, plus that might solve the problem
