Default Gas Mileage - 1994 EX

I did a search on this and couldn't find anything.
I have a 1994 Accord EX with the 2.2. I drive all highway back and forth to work every day 36 miles each way. My gas mileage is consistently at 27mpg. Every now and then I'll hit 28mpg. Is this normal for this car? I feel like it should be getting closer to 30mpg. On a recent trip to Chicago from Detroit I also got 27mpg. I drive around 80mph on the freeway.
btw....recently did a tune up this winter.

It's said to have 25city/30highway, but that is if you're driving speedlimit. 80mph on the highway and getting 27-28mpg is about right.

if you want to know what you "should" be getting I.E. what the car's sticker said when you bought it go to http://www.fueleconomy.gov and look up your car, pretty cool tells you how much you'll spend in a year depending on driving city vs highway and cost of fuel. Kinda cool.

Thanks for the replies. I did do a search on "gas mileage" and only came up with one topic. Maybe I screwed something up.
Anyways, I guess I'm doing all right then. I can get over 400 miles on a tank. I just thought that this car should get 30mpg. My SVT contour with a V6 gets about the same mileage my Honda - around 25mpg. Thanks for the link kniob.

when I had my 5th gen, I was getting thirty on the highway if I drove about 65. As you creep up the speedo, you start to loose some mpg. If I recall, when I was pushing eighty or so it would drop in the 28 range. I think you might be just a TAD low, but I wouldn't worry about any serious problems unless you're running rough or smelling funny. And besides, it's a ten-year-old car, she ain't perfect.

27 seems low to me. Have you checked the spark plugs, tire pressure, distributor wires/cap/rotor, o2 sensors and so on? Changed oil regularly? You might try those and see if it improves..

Just this winter I changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve and air filter and I change the oil every 4000 miles and I check my tire pressure almost weekly due to a slow leak on one of my tires. My EX is an automatic. I guess the mileage isn't that bad. I just thought it should be better.

i get about 300 per fill up, but i usually fill it up when there is still a couple gallons in the car. so for say 15 gallons and 300miles i guess i get about 20 mpg.
