12's posible on street tires?
Hi All,
the local track (Keystone raceway) is going to open on april 17th and I was going to go to see what my car is capible of.
my set up right now is a Del Sol powered with a B16a3, and it's boosted to 11 psi with a T3 super 60. (intercooled, BOV, 450's, ect)
OK... the car may not have enough HP to be able to pull 12's... but if the HP is there... can it be done on street tires?? (Zeik 512 205/50/14) mid 12's was my goal for this project.
Thanks

yeah you can do it......u can run 11's in a hatch on street tires if u really want to. well u can run 11's on bfg's....how much power are u making though? not to burst ur bubble but odds are you'll be in the 13s
Nope... no bubbles bursted. I don't know how much power the engine is makeing yet. I got the turbo done just in time for winter to hit last year (so it's been parked)... and now I'm doing the tunning. (on the street with a wideband) I guess my goal for power would be right around the 300 whp mark.
I know if I get a good clutch and slicks I can get into the 12 eventualy with practace and tunning... but I'm not looking to maximize my drag times... I'm looking to make a fast street car (relitvly fast) So, for me... it has to be with what ever tire I'm going to run on the street. I was just wondering if 12's are possible.
thanks for the input so far. Anyone else??

I live near the keystone area so ill probably see you up there running on Weds if u going to test and tunes.
I noticed you said your doing your tuning on a wideband. Which wideband is it? How much was it? Do you have a link? Did you just install another 02 sensor bung for it?

yes...bfg's are in a different league than azenis's though...too much wheel hop with azenis, there sidewalls aren't meant for 1/4 mile..
Anyways yes you should be able to run 12's fairly easily on street tires with ~300WHP.

Yes its possible and We were the first to build a 12 sec radial tire all motor honda
. this was ran at carlsbad raceway about a year ago in my customers crx with a 1.8 b18c1 on falken azenis. first pass. 12.90@112.4mph...

yeh its pretty easy actaully, if you run on bfg's.. If you car can do 110mph in the 1/4 then u should be able to hit 12's and if u don't u can't drive.

I dunno about that one.. I had built the b18c1 for billy loyds crx back in 2002. I dont remember any street car runninh those times on RADIAL's, not any type of drag radial.. because if thats what you ment then that to me is entirely different. a drag radial is much closer to a slick then a actual street tire... I just said we were the first to do it on normal radials..
