Blown Kyb AGX
I blew my rear drivers side one riding on my old Skunk2 coilovers. I'm pretty sure it was because I was riding too low and I hit a bunch of road construction that literally made my car airborn!
i've had mine for almost 6 months and they are fine....they won't warranty the shocks if u ride on coilovers tho i don't think any shock manufacturer will
I had mine blown after riding around for less than 6 months.. I had it set to 4 and I was riding on ground control coilover.......I need to call them about changing it. anyone with the number...
A lot of people think that super crazy stiff spring rates of 7000lbs/in (i'm a bit exaggerating but you get the point) are just fine for their aftermarket dampers.
In reality, every damper (OE or aftermarket) will wear out. They are only designed to absorb a certain amount of force (from the springs) at the most. If you exceed that amount, the damper will start to excessively wear at a faster rate. Not only that, but the stroke is reduced as well...putting more strain on the dampers.
Don't know about KYB AGX, but I know for a fact that regular valved Koni adjustable are only able to dampen springs with rates of 500lbs/in or less. If you have stiffer springs, then you'll need to have your Koni's revalved to handle the stiffer springs. i.e. Skunk coilovers, are too stiff...they'll wear the dampers in no time.
That's why GOOD coilovers are a worthwile investments. They match the dampers according to the spring rates, and most of them have a shortened body to retain full stroke. They will less likely "blow" compared to mis-matched spring & damper combo.
