Default '00 ITR Exhaust on '97 GS-R

I have the opportunity to get some exhaust parts from a '00 Type-R for my 1997 GS-R. Does anybody know anything about fitment issues? Is this a good idea?

good idea!
i heard for the gsr you're going to have to modify it a little bit to make it fit. they have (itr and gsr) different size cat. the itr b-pipe is shorter than the gsr, other than that it fits perfectly.

I put a '00 ITR exhaust on my '97 GSR. You'll need to extend the GSR B-pips 4" and it'll bolt right up. It's very nice, clean, sleeper mod.

I had Greddy SP piping on w/ my old Itr muffler, it bolted right on. Now I'm using an ES muffer. Anyone want a cut up Itr muffler? (No tip or piping connected).

Would any muffler shop extend the B Pipe for me? I wanna get an ITR Cat-Back exhaust system too, would it be expensive?

hey ITR Guys with an aftermarket exhaust, how much would you sell your OEM System for?

The going price is about $250 for the exhaust. Mufflers only usually sell for $100-$150 depending on condition.

I picked up a muffler here on H-T for $100 + about $20 for shipping. I was quoted $65 by a local shop for a 2.5" b-pipe. Not mandrel bent, but who gives a rip?
I'm now planning on getting a JDM ITR 4-1 header anda Random 2.5" cat, about $600 for both shipped.
The muffler bolted right up to my stock B-pipe, by the way. The ITR b-pipe will need to be lengthened by a few inches, I think. It was actually cheaper to have a new one fabbed.

remember that 00-01 gsr and type-r exhaust are shorter than 94-99 integra's cuz of the longer cat

how could putting the ITR exhaust on the gsr possibly make any difference but just a couple hp at the fly, they're basically the same aren't they?

can someone confirm this for me? Since there are hardly any exhausts made for the '01 GSR, would it be safe to just get an exhaust made for the type R since they're the same length? Also, i plan to get a jdm 4-1 header with a new cat. If i get a cat made for the '94-99 gsr's, would i beable to get an exhaust made for '94-'99 gsr's?

Any year type R exhaust will fit 94-01 Non-vtecs and 2000-01 GSR's only. This will be a direct fit. However with 94-99 GSR's modification will be needed to the B-pipe. I do know that if you wanted just the muffer section the Type R muffler will fit all Acuras.

no, that's not right. The '94-99 GSR's have a shorter header, the '00+ use the US ITR header which is 4" longer (and better design).

I cut the pipe myself, and just brought the B-pipe and the flange and It only cost me $15 to have it aligned and welded.
